Emma Raducanu believes she made mistakes regarding her programming over the summer and has now changed her approach.

Raducanu was eliminated from the US Open in the first round by Sofia Kenin last month after opting not to play any tournaments in the weeks leading up to it.

The 21-year-old, who has not won a match at the US Open since winning it in 2021, tearfully admitted her preparation was flawed following her early exit.

And she has made clear her intention to stay as active as possible after her hard-fought first-round win at the Korea Open on Tuesday against Peyton Stearns (7-6, 7-6).

“I think the rest of the year, as long as I’m healthy, I’ll try to finish the season and play as many matches as I can,” Raducanu told wtatennis.com.

“It’s something I don’t like very much since I was on the pitch during the period in Washington DC. I haven’t played many points, not even in training.

‘So as grueling as (the Stearns match) was, I think I got three hours of match experience that can only help me going into the next few weeks.

“For now I just want to play matches and, in the meantime, work a little on my game where I can.”

“This is one of my favorite weeks of the calendar,” she said. “In my match, no matter how bad I was playing, I just wanted to keep playing here because I like it. Korean food is my favorite, so I’ve really been enjoying my time here.

“I’ve never played in China before, so it will be my first time. I feel very comfortable in this environment, which is an advantage. I’m betting heavily on the end of the year because I’m excited. I feel very good in Asia.”
