Emily Blunt has broken her silence on reports that a long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is finally in the works.
Rumours have been circulating for weeks that the 41-year-old actress is set to reprise her role as acid-tongued assistant Emily Charlton, and that Meryl Streep is also set to return as Runway editor-in-chief Miranda Priestley.
Speaking to PEOPLE while attending the American Institute of Stuttering’s 18th Annual Gala on Monday, Emily was asked about the news that the sequel had been greenlit.
Joking, “What sequel?” he added, “Oh my God, I can’t tell you anything!”
Referring to her character’s flawless appearance in the film, she added: “You’re going to put on some nice eye makeup again, aren’t you?”

She then joked about getting back into character, referencing Emily’s battle with the stomach flu, which helped her slim down for Paris Fashion Week.
“I have to put on some eye makeup and get a stomach bug. I hope that’s the case!” the star added.
Disney has signed screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who adapted the original 2006 film from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name, according to Variety.
While the return of the original cast has yet to be confirmed, the plot description suggests that both Meryl Streep (Miranda Priestley) and Emily Blunt (Emily Charlton) would be back.
News of a sequel comes just days after a musical adaptation debuted its first preview run in London’s West End, starring Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestley and featuring new music from Elton John.
The sequel’s story will follow Priestley and his career in the present day, when traditional magazine publishing is in decline.
He faces off against Charlton, who is said to be a high-powered executive at a luxury group, while Priestley goes after that company’s advertising dollars.
None of the reports have mentioned whether Anne Hathaway would return as Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs, or if other supporting cast members would return such as Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Adrian Grenier, Gisele Bundchen, and Tracie Thoms.

Speaking at the American Institute of Stuttering’s 18th Annual Gala on Monday, Emily joked that she would have to hone her eye makeup skills to play the character again.
The original film was adapted from Weisberger’s novel of the same name, which is loosely based on her time as assistant to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
The story follows Andy, a Northwestern graduate who somehow lands a job as a junior personal assistant to Miranda Priestley, the editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine.
She tries to use this experience to pave the way for better opportunities in journalism, but finds it difficult to fit in, although she proves to be more than up to the challenge.
The film, directed by David Frankel, was a surprise box office success, grossing $124.7 million in the United States and $326.7 million worldwide on a budget of just $35 million.
Streep won a Golden Globe for her performance and also earned an Oscar nomination.
Wendy Finerman, who produced the original, will also return to produce, though no director has yet been attached.
There has been talk of a sequel for years, and Weisberger wrote a sequel novel, Revenge Wears Prada, in 2013.
However, the stars of the original have said they would not be interested in making that adaptation as a sequel.
Both Blunt and Hathaway recently interviewed each other for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, and Blunt talked about how much fun they had.
“We had a lot of fun making that movie. I don’t know if any of us knew it would become what it became. I hear it quoted to me every week. It’s going to be the movie that changes my life,” he said.
