He added that he hadn’t talked about it in the five months since because he “had to relax” and admitted it was “a big problem.”

“I had been going through something very heavy and traumatic in my life at the time,” Elle explained during the May 16 podcast episode.

“That day was really important in dealing with what I was going through and am still going through, and I suffer from severe PTSD,” he said.

King added: “I hadn’t eaten that day, I hadn’t slept in days and I was really overwhelmed.” I was like a shell of myself.’

He added that there were two separate shows, that there was a “huge snowstorm that day” and that the previously booked headliner canceled and King was asked to intervene.

‘They asked me if I would sing, if I would be the headliner and Jolene would sing. I thought, ‘Cool, I know that song,'” King added.

She said the first show was “fucking perfect”, although she admitted to taking “one take too many and I’m just not there, in my body”, adding: “I don’t even remember what I said.

“She just gave me very kind words and made me laugh, and that’s the kindness of women,” King added.

“Those are the things I received that I will never forget because I wanted to die and I had to get away from the population for a while,” King admitted.

He took a two-month break from touring after the incident, before sharing a message on Instagram in March.

‘To everyone sending me love, because I’m human and I already talked to Dolly. I love you. To everyone who told me to kill myself, I love you too,” she said.
