Here are the conclusions…
–Edwin Diaz He returned to the closer’s role Saturday but blew his third straight save opportunity. The right-hander, who threw 14 pitches Friday night in the seventh inning, allowed a single to lead off the game. Wilmer Flores, who was searched for Ryan McKenna. With one out, McKenna stole second base and then scored to tie the game 2-2 when pinch-hitter Lamonte Wade Jr. he threw a ball down the right field line. Wade was thrown out at second by Starling Mars.
Díaz left the entrance after Brett Baty made a diving stop on a hard-hit ball at third to throw out the catcher Curt Casali.
-The Giants opened the game in the tenth inning. Brett wisely drove in the extra inning runner at second with a leadoff single Sean Reid Foley, who loaded the bases and allowed another run to score on a walk to make it 4-2. Reid-Foley was replaced by Josh Walkerwho allowed a triple with the bases loaded Mike Yastrzemski to make it 7-2.
–lLuis Severino had a pretty impressive performance Saturday afternoon, pitching seven innings, including 5.1 no-hitters, allowing just two hits, one run and striking out six.
The first hit Severino allowed was a single to Wisely, the ninth batter, who lined just over Baty’s reach at third. He walked to the next batter and after receiving Thairo Estrada to land in a forced departure, Patrick Bailey he tied the game with an RBI single to left field. Severino struck out again Matt Chapman to leave the entrance.
The Mets right-hander looked strong from the start, striking out the first two batters he faced, but stayed economical as he took advantage of an aggressive Giants lineup that swung early in the count and got easy outs. He was perfect for four innings before allowing a walk to Chapman in the fifth.
He seemed to be in trouble again in the seventh, issuing a two-out walk to heliot ramosbut carlos mendoza he let Severino stay to face one more batter, getting Casali to appear at third base.
-Baty, whom Mendoza started over Marcos Vientos As the two compete for the third base job, he provided temporary heroics by hitting a go-ahead solo home run for the second deck in right field. Sean Hjellmy to give the Mets a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning.
-Marte got the Mets on the board early by smashing a breaking ball over the left field fence. Jordan Hicks to put the Mets up 1-0 in the second inning.
