Sophie Delezio is pregnant with her first child and like any mother-to-be, her pregnancy has been full of worries and fears.

The miracle survivor of a double car crash says she’s been very careful about what she eats as her son grows.

“There are so many things you can’t control… you want to make sure that everything you consume, everything you do, is right for the child inside you, but you don’t know how they’re doing all the time,” she says. news.com.au.

“It’s very stressful, but I’m excited to have him here and not have to worry about whether I can eat a runny egg and silly stuff like that.”

Sophie made the comments as part of her support for International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day and hopes to spread the message that no amount of alcohol is safe for a fetus.

When it comes to raising her son in the future, despite her own difficult history, Sophie says she understands that life just happens.

“I think it’s about accepting that you can’t predict those bad experiences, those difficulties and those struggles in life,” she said.

“That gives me a sense of peace, knowing that what happened to me was so rare and unexpected, and that there was nothing that could have controlled those accidents… just accepting that life is more or less like that.”

She shared a glimpse inside the festivities, right up to the moment she popped blue confetti that revealed she was having a boy.

“It’s a BOY!! We can’t wait to welcome you into the world little one! Your mommy and daddy are so excited to meet you,” the 23-year-old wrote in her Instagram caption.

The party, attended by friends and family, was decorated in pastel shades, including balloons and baby blocks.

The mom-to-be posed alongside her partner Joseph, showing off her blossoming baby bump in a white hobo-style dress.

She then changed into a form-fitting blue dress to mark the baby’s gender, cradling her bump as she posed next to baby blocks.

Guests were also offered pastel cupcakes and photos of the couple and their ultrasound were hung as decorations.
