David Beckham has revealed that an unknown person left an apology note in his car, following the release of his Netflix documentary series.
The former soccer player, 49, spoke in the documentary about the abuse he received after the 1998 World Cup.

After opening up about abuse in his docuseries, David received a wave of support from the public, who praised him for his strength during the difficult time.
Talking about the effect of her candor on a cover of the Extra Emmy Edition of VARIETYHe said he was glad this made people take mental health more seriously.
He said: ‘I think what I learned from my documentary was how important mental health is. Because 20 years ago no one was talking about that. And no one took it seriously.
‘Now it’s fantastic that people can talk about their feelings… A lot of things were said about us during these 27 years. It can be painful.
David went on to reveal that he and his wife Victoria, 50, recently went to a pub and returned to their car to find a note with no name or address.
He said: ‘It said, ‘We’re sorry for how you were treated.’ I still have the letter. But I think that’s how people felt after the documentary.’
David opened up about the turbulent period of his series last October and confessed was a “disaster” and could not eat or sleep, while Victoria revealed that she was suffering from clinical depression and the experience ‘broke’ him.
He recalled feeling “very vulnerable and alone” when he landed back in the UK amid hordes of booing spectators and negative press.

Detailing the horrific abuse, which became so severe that he could not go to the bathroom unsupervised for fear of being attacked on the way, he continued: “Everywhere I went, I was abused every day.
‘Walking down the street and seeing people look at you a certain way, spit at you, insult you, get up in your face and tell you some of the things they said, that’s difficult. I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep, I was a mess.
The sports legend, who was just 23 years old at the time, also detailed the impact he had on his parents, Ted and Sandra, noting: “He brought a lot of attention that I would never wish on anyone, let alone my parents and me “. I don’t forgive myself for that.
“That’s the hard part that happened then. I’m 47 years old now and I still beat myself up about it. Inside he killed me.’

The four-part series saw the Beckhams give an intimate insight into their marriage and early romance, their family life, as well as charting David’s football career. His documentary racked up a record 3.8 million viewers during its premiere week.
According to the Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB), the first episode had 3,813,100 fans tuning in.
The second installment was also a success, reaching 2,868,800 viewers in the week ending October 8.
BECKHAM was the streaming service’s most-watched show for two weeks when it launched, with 11.6 million fans watching it worldwide, according to Netflix’s own data.
