Danger! Viewers have mercilessly mocked the popular game show’s latest batch of contestants after they failed to answer simple sports questions.
During Tuesday night’s episode, players Travis Kissire, Christina Paul and Adriana Harmeyer were similarly baffled as host Ken Jennings tested their knowledge in the 21st century sports category.
It all started when Ken, 50, asked for $400: ‘In 2007, this National League team became the first team with 10,000 losses; In 2008 they won the world series behind Cole Hamels and Ryan Howard.
Christina then incorrectly interjected and asked, ‘Who are the Chicago Cubs?’
The correct answer was the Philadelphia Phillies, who beat the Tampa Bay Rays on October 29, 2008.
Ken Jennings dropped off his latest batch of Jeopardy! Contestants were left stumped during the 21st century sports category on Tuesday night.
All three players were stumped by a question about the 2008 World Series.
The Phillies’ victory, under manager Charlie Manuel, was the team’s first World Series victory since the 1980 World Series, and the city’s first major sports championship in 25 years.
To date, this is the most recent season the Phillies have won in the competition.
But this wasn’t the only sports-related question that stumped the contestants.
Later in the game, Ken asked, “A little like Sci-Fi’s Anywhere Door or Phoenix Gate, it opened on October 15, 2018 to bring college athletes to a new school.”
The answer? Transfer portal. But the three players had no idea.
They also gave the wrong answer to: ‘With Oklahoma City, this triple-double master became the first consecutive NBA All-Star Game MVP since the 1950s.’
Adriana responded: ‘Who is (Kevin) Durant?’
But Ken confirmed that LA Clippers star Russell Westbrook was the right answer.
Christina Paul entered incorrectly with: “Who are the Chicago Cubs?”

Spectators did not stop expressing their frustration at the players’ lack of knowledge.
Viewers continued to express their frustration at the players’ lack of knowledge, with one even going so far as to jokingly declare them “permanently banned from Philadelphia.”
“There’s nothing better than when the incredibly smart people on Jeopardy don’t know something that all of us dirty jock bums know,” one viewer wrote on X.
Phillies sports blog Cross Broad wrote: ‘No respect for the 2008 World Series champion on Jeopardy! tonight.’
A third added: “They are permanently banned in Philly.”
A fourth said: “Devastated no one knew the @Phillies on @Jeopardy.”
Another pleaded: ‘We need more sports fans on Jeopardy!’
