Crystal Hefner sent a cease and desist notice to Holly Madison over comments she made last month on the Girls Next Level podcast, claiming they were false and damaging to her reputation.
Crystal, 38, condemned the comments from Madison, 44, as “malicious and intentionally misleading” and had caused her “serious harm.” TMZ reported Tuesday after reviewing court documents in the case.
The Lake Havasu City native, who was married to Hugh Hefner from 2012 until his death in 2017, said Madison lied to her. May 12 podcast with Bridget Marquardt.
On the podcast, titled ‘What We REALLY Think About Crystal’s Book,’ Madison and Marquardt welcomed Hefner’s son, Marston Hefner, as a guest.
In the midst of a discussion about Crystal’s book Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, Madison insinuated that Crystal kept Hugh ‘dosed on damn drugs’ in his later years to exploit him financially.

Crystal’s legal team said in the letter that “nothing could be further from the truth” in that regard, as the allegation “is completely false and will not be tolerated.”
“As we understand it, Ms. Hefner was steadfast in her commitment to Mr. Hefner during his final days, ensuring that he was cared for and received the best medical care available,” Crystal’s legal team said.
According to the outlet, Crystal promised in the letter to take Madison to litigation if she made such accusations in the future.
Madison appeared to respond to the legal letter in a statement on her Twitter page on Monday.
“Imagine running a free speech foundation and then sending someone a cease and desist,” she wrote, accompanied by a series of laughing emojis.
Madison added in a later tweet, “His lawyer can’t even find my correct email address” with a clown emoji.
A lawyer for Crystal told TMZ in a statement: ‘Ms. Opportunists will not tarnish Hefner’s name and reputation.
“We stand by the contents of the letter and will enforce Ms. Hefner’s rights to the fullest extent.”
