Connor Stalions to appear in Netflix documentary 'UNTOLD' on August 30

Connor Stalions will appear in a Netflix documentary series to share his side of the infamous Michigan sign-stealing scandal.

Stalions, a former member of the Wolverines football team, will tell his “viral villain” story on Netflix’s UNTOLD, following what many consider to be one of the biggest scandals in college football history.

The episode starring the ‘Signal Thief’ will air on August 30.

For the first time, Stallions will reveal “his side of the alleged Michigan sign-stealing scheme that turned him into a viral villain,” Netflix said.

Other episodes of the series will feature former U.S. women’s national team goalkeeper Hope Solo on Sept. 3. The show will also delve into the 2009 death of Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair in an episode airing Aug. 20.

Stalions was accused of leading an illicit scouting ring in the Big Ten Conference. Stalions reportedly purchased tickets to Big Ten games and recorded opposing teams’ signals to gain an unfair advantage.

Sign theft has been banned since 1994.

In the heat of last season’s investigation, several Big Ten coaches came forward to support claims about the Stalions’ whereabouts.

“He’s the head of the operation,” one conference coach told Yahoo in October. “I once told (the Stalions), ‘We know what kind of shit you’re doing and it’s shit.'”

Stalions was suspended indefinitely while the NCAA investigation continued before being reinstated in November 2023.

Although the scandal had a negative connotation, it later became another obstacle to overcome on their way to a 15-0 season and national championship win.

Coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended by the Big Ten for three games amid the investigation. During his suspension, the Wolverines faced powerhouse teams like Penn State and Ohio State but managed to eke out wins with offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore as interim coach.

After securing the program’s first national title since 1997, Harbaugh left Ann Arbor to coach the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL.

Even though Harbaugh and Stalions have left the Wolverines’ locker room, the NCAA continues to investigate the scandal. However, the investigation has slowed because the case “has not been short of twists and turns,” according to the Detroit Press.
