Fans call for Deshaun Watson to be benched amid his sexual assault allegations

Cleveland Browns fans are calling for Deshaun Watson to be benched as the quarterback deals with sexual assault allegations.

The Browns had a 1-1 record heading into their Week 3 matchup against the struggling New York Giants. However, after a disappointing performance in Sunday’s 21-15 loss, fans were vocal about their displeasure with the quarterback and the team.

At halftime, the Browns were booed off the field as they trailed 21-7. Additionally, fans voiced their opinions on Watson’s recent performance.

‘Every week for the last 3 years, Deshaun Watson has looked like the worst QB in the NFL and there are still people who say he’s a little rusty.’ A fan wrote.

“I’m really not sure there are five starting QBs in the league worse than Deshaun Watson,” Another addition‘This guy’s accuracy is some of the worst I’ve ever seen.’

“The deal between the Browns and Deshaun Watson is the worst deal in history and I’m sure it will never be surpassed,” said a third.

Brown, whose on-field struggles have been linked to his struggles outside the NFL, appeared indecisive during the loss.

While they were able to close the gap in the second half, Brown only completed 21 of 37 attempts for 196 yards. Despite throwing two touchdowns, fans were not happy with their quarterback being sacked eight times in the game.

While it ended up being their best performance this season, fans weren’t satisfied without a win over another struggling team.

Watson completed 22 of 34 attempts for 186 yards in an 18-13 win against the Jaguars in Week 2. Before that, he was 24 of 45 for 169 yards and a touchdown in a 33-17 loss to the Cowboys.

On September 22, it was reported that Watson was having mental issues due to the sexual assault allegations he faces off the field.

Watson has been the focus of several court cases over the past three seasons, and previously reached confidential settlements with 20 women over sexual misconduct claims that led to him being suspended for 11 games during the 2022 season.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that a new woman is suing him for more than $1 million, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in Texas four years ago.

“He’s still dealing with a lot of that crap that he dealt with a couple of years ago with the lawsuits and all that,” former quarterback Warren Moon told TMZ. “And now all of a sudden, another lawsuit comes up.”

“It seems that just when he is starting to get his career back on track after overcoming the lawsuits – and then the injuries he has had in recent years – another one appears.”

“It seems like every time he goes out on the field he’s playing with a heavy mind and he’s not able to focus on the game,” Warren added. “He’s probably trying too hard. He’s pushing himself and he’s just not able to play like he’s capable of.”

Off to a 1-2 start this season, the Browns will embark on a three-game road trip with stops in Las Vegas, Washington and Philadelphia.
