Chuck Schumer’s ‘Father’s Day paradise’ took a turn for the worse after he tried to show off his skills on the grill.
The Senate majority leader posted a photo of himself in shorts and a T-shirt, casually flipping a burger while tending a barbecue at his daughter’s house.
But the image was removed faster than a hot dog on fire after X’s followers saw he had put a piece of cheese on a raw burger.
And his political opponents were quick to fan the flames, including Donald Trump Jr, who accused him of “playing to the masses”.
“If you need help learning how to do basic grilling things, let me know,” he added. “Nice try to relate.”
The Senate Majority Leader found himself feeling the heat after posting a Father’s Day photo on social media of his attempt to cook a grilled cheeseburger.
The Democratic leader, right, was celebrating at the new home purchased by his daughter Alison, left, and his wife Elizabeth Weiland, center.
The veteran politician admitted his inexperience while tweeting from his daughter Alison’s home.
“Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years,” the New York senator wrote.
‘But my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we are having a barbecue with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill.
‘Father’s Day heaven’.
That wasn’t enough for grill fans, as the 73-year-old Democrat found himself fully informed on social media.
“Remember this the next time you hear someone brag about their Harvard degree.” wrote one.
“King Charles is more likely to know how to make a cheeseburger than Charles Schumer, and I’m sure the king has no idea,” said another.
“Yes, but surely he can question the taxpayers,” added a third.
Even more were unsettled by the unappealing appearance of the burgers.
“I don’t know about you, but when I grill hamburgers, the meat is fresh and red, not pale gray like rotten meat,” one wrote.
“There’s not even a bit of seasoning on those pre-made frozen old beef burgers,” added another.
“Oh, and no smoke,” noted a third.
The Senate leader is far from the first politician to face burning for an incomplete display on the gridiron.
Donald Trump Jr was quick to fan the flames, mocking Schumer for his efforts.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul also faced ridicule from seasoned barbecue fans for her awkward appearance at a barbecue in 2022.
The senator quickly deleted his photo, but not before it caught fire on social media.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul was mocked for tweeting a photo of herself in a crisp white suit while gingerly holding a spatula with a raw burger on the end at a barbecue in August 2022.
But Schumer, who is the country’s highest-ranking Jewish elected official, also faced religious blowback for violating the ban on eating meat and cheese.
“I love you Chuck, but the cheese on the burger just wasn’t necessary,” tweeted Rabbi Elchanan Poupko.
“It’s a pretty basic Jewish practice to avoid mixing meat and dairy.”
