Will Reeve was just 13 when his father died of heart failure in October 2004.

While Will Reeve is the spitting image of his late father, actor Christopher Reeve, he is not interested in becoming a leading Hollywood actor.

Talking with PEOPLE This week, Will said he “likes” working as a correspondent for ABC News and Good Morning America and that he’s just not “good” at acting.

“I enjoy my job as a correspondent at ABC News,” Reeve, 32, revealed while on the red carpet at the New York premiere of the new documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.

“I think I might like acting,” the North Adams, Massachusetts, native confessed.

“But I don’t know if I’m good at acting.”

Reeve famously played Superman

Of course, the topic of Superman made its way into the conversation, and new actor David Corenswet was set to don the red cape for the next Superman movie, scheduled for release in 2025.

“I think they got a good actor in David,” Will shared of the studios’ decision to cast the Philadelphia native, whose resume includes The Politician (2019-2020) and Twisters (2024), in the iconic role.

Corenswet, 31, is now the third actor after Christopher Reeve to portray the Man of Steel on the big screen, following Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill.

Will makes a brief appearance in the upcoming superhero movie, but he and his brothers feature heavily in the new Super/Man documentary.

The documentary covers Christopher’s early days in New York City as an up-and-coming actor, with his best friend Robin Williams, through to his tragic accident while competing in an equestrian competition in Culpepper, Virginia in 1995 and the aftermath.

The story then focuses on his paralysis due to the fall from his horse and the impact it had on his life with his wife Dana Reeve, whom he married three years before the accident.

Will’s mother became his father’s primary caregiver in 1995, until her death in October 2004, while remaining a mother to her three children.

After her accident, she pushed for research into spinal cord injuries, including human embryonic stem cell research, and for better insurance coverage for people with disabilities.

Her advocacy work included serving as director of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and co-founding the Reeve-Irvine Research Center.

All of Reeve’s children serve on the board of directors of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

“My mother was perhaps the most special person that ever walked this earth,” Will told PEOPLE, before adding, “She didn’t have to wake up every day and decide to take care of our family. That’s just who she was.”

Tragically, her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2005, despite never having smoked, 10 months after her husband passed away.

Dana eventually died in March 2006 at the age of 44, leaving Will and his siblings parentless for a period of 17 months.

“That’s when I realized I was completely alone,” Will said as he recalled his thoughts and emotions during that dark period.

Superman: The Christopher Reeve Story premiered in select theaters on September 21, with additional special screenings on September 25, honoring what would have been Christopher’s 72nd birthday.
