Christopher Biggins made a huge mistake on Cooking With The Stars on Tuesday when he burnt his curry spices, filling the studio with clouds of smoke.

Christopher Biggins suffered a major faux pas on Cooking With The Stars on Tuesday when he burnt his curry spices, filling the studio with clouds of smoke.

The 75-year-old actor took part in the latest episode of the ITV cooking show and was competing against comedian Katherine Ryan, 41, for Budget Week.

During Budget Week, each celebrity contestant had to create a £3 dish using frozen, tinned and pantry ingredients.

During the episode, Christopher was mentored by chef and former I’m A Celebrity contestant Rosemary Shrager, 73, and was attempting to make a tasty chickpea, spinach and potato curry with rice and flatbread.

However, her dish didn’t go as planned as she accidentally burned her curry spices, filling the studio with smoke.

The show, hosted by Emma Willis and Tom Allen, returned this week for its fourth season and in the latest episode Christopher and Katherine cooked first.

Katherine was mentored by professional chef Jack Stein to prepare a Spanish-style cod stew with chickpeas, red pepper salad and tomato bread, while Christopher prepared a potato curry.

To start, Christopher began by toasting his curry spices in a pan and Rosemary advised him that toasting them would help “bring out the flavour”.

However, the spices began to burn and filled the kitchen with clouds of smoke, leaving the other contestants baffled.

Fellow contestant Carol Vorderman, 63, asked: “What’s that smoke?” to which Abbey Clancy replied: “Something’s burning.”

Ryan then called out to Christopher: “Are you okay, Christopher? What happened?” However, Christopher insisted: “No, nothing is wrong.”

Then Rosemary yelled at Christopher telling him to take it off and that she would have to start over.

Host Tom then walked over to his stool and asked: “Biggins, I’m really worried this is going up in smoke, should I be doing that?”

During the chaotic cooking episode, Christopher also had a hard time making his flatbread and ended up dropping it.

He proceeded to ask Tom to ring his gong so that his mentor Rosemary could come and assist him for the allotted two minutes.

However, his burnt spices made his dish bitter and the judges sent him off to the cooking competition.

Elsewhere on the show, retired athlete Linford Christie, 64, was mentored by Poppy O’Toole and had to make a pea risotto with corned beef crumble and garlic flatbread.

Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds, 29, was mentored by Shelina Permalloo and had to cook jewelled rice topped with filo pastry, sweetcorn fritters and mango chutney.

The judges voted for Ellie’s dish, meaning Linford landed in the Cook Off against Christopher.

The pair were tasked with making a pineapple upside-down cake from scratch and Christopher was accused of “sabotage” by his fellow celebrities after he encouraged Linford to add more flour to his cake batter.

The judging panel was blind and it was revealed that Christopher’s mentor Rosemary had voted for Linford’s dish to win.

Christopher laughed when he realised he was being sent home, and Linford said it was a “relief” to survive to cook for another week.

As they talked about Christopher, Rosemary joked, “You know what? He did his best, but I had to spank him, you know!”
