Chris Hemsworth may have millions, but there’s nothing he loves more than a cheap birthday cake.
The Australian actor celebrated his 41st birthday this week with a $7.05 white clay cake from supermarket chain Woolworths.
The Thor actor shared a video of himself enjoying the treat all to himself in an Instagram video on Monday.
Described on the website as “a soft, fluffy sponge cake topped with a beautifully shiny white chocolate glaze and finished with dark chocolate swirls for an indulgent touch”, this simple dessert is a favourite among Australians.
“I just want to say thank you for all the love and birthday wishes,” Chris said in his video.
“I didn’t actually take any pictures yesterday so I went and got a cake and thought I’d have a little, little, little private celebration and I had some champagne as well,” she explained.
Chris added: “I bought myself some flowers. That’s the important thing. You know, when you get older, you realise that the circle of people around you, the people you love, gets smaller and smaller.
“That’s why I’m alone. But don’t worry, as I told you, I bought myself a delicious cake and some champagne and a little arrangement.”

Her fans were impressed, with one person writing in the comments: “In touch with the common man.”
Another said: “I love that despite all your success you are still humble enough to have a Woolies mud pie as your birthday cake. Happy birthday!”
Another said: “No more Cole’s or Woolies mud pie,” while others argued over whether Chris had bought the Woolworths or Coles version, which is very similar and priced at AUD$6.40.
Last year, Chris had fans running to the supermarket after showing them the cheap cake he received for his 40th birthday.

“Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Another trip around the sun and I’m still going strong. I can safely say that not a single piece of cake survived the night,” she wrote in the caption.
After the photo was posted, fans flocked to Woolworths to try the dessert for themselves.
Priced at A$29, the cake is described as a “light sponge cake with a delicious chocolate buttercream, topped with a drop of Belgian dark chocolate.”

“This is the cake that Chris Hemsworth received for his birthday. He’s an Australian icon,” she said.
‘It smells so good. It’s thick… I hate the word ‘moist’, but it’s the only word that comes to mind. That, my friends, is a delicious cake, with the thickest layer of frosting. It’s so good.’
Fans praised Chris Hemsworth in the comments for his realistic choice of a Woolworths cake.
“I’m so glad to know that Thor received a cake from Woolies for his birthday,” wrote one user.
“I love the fact that someone like him is happy with a Woolies cake!” commented another.
