A train and a car have collided on the New South Wales Central Coast, causing transport chaos for travelers returning home for the weekend.

The passenger train collided with the sedan at a crossing at Woy Woy about 6pm before dragging the vehicle along the tracks.

There was no one inside the vehicle at the time and no one was injured.

Passengers have been removed from the train. None of them were injured.

There are now long delays and no trains running between Hawkesbury River and Gosford in either direction.
