Bryson DeChambeau WINS US Open after Rory McIlroy throws him away down the stretch at Pinehurst

Bryson DeChambeau won the US Open, after Rory McIlroy choked on the final day at Pinehurst.

McIlroy had the tournament at his mercy and looked destined to win his first major in 10 years, but with a one-stroke lead, he missed a two-and-a-half-foot putt for par on the 16th.

It was his second straight bogey and came at the worst time, moments after DeChambeau three-putted the 15th.

But after McIlroy released him in the 15th over, DeChambeau never looked back. Rory missed another easy putt on the 18th, ending his tournament with a bogey and nothing but humiliation.

It looked like DeChambeau was going to shoot one himself on the 18th, but after hitting the heavy, he came out of a greenside bunker with a fabulous shot four feet from the flag.

From there, there would only be one outcome and the LIV man emerged victorious after an impressive final round in North Carolina.

It is the second time he has won the US Open, after the 2020 triumph, and the second Major overall of his career.
