Baldwin is among the Democrats seeking re-election who have raised questions about Biden’s prospects as a candidate. “I traveled all over the state during the July 4 recess,” he told DailyMail.com on Tuesday.

Baldwin said he’s “heard a lot of concerns about the president’s ability to win this election. And so I think everyone is watching very closely how he performs this week,” he said on a day when senators and House members met separately to discuss Biden’s situation.

Biden won Wisconsin to defeat Trump in 2020, garnering about 20,000 votes even as Trump and his Republican allies challenged and denied the results.

It is one of three Rust Belt battlegrounds, including Michigan and Pennsylvania, that offer him a path to victory amid a slump in polls in other states he won, including Georgia, Nevada and Arizona.

The poll was conducted after Biden’s debate. Another Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll that ran through the July 4 weekend showed Biden leading Trump 47 to 44.

Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio’s firm conducted the survey.
