President Joe Biden criticized parents for allowing their children access to guns as he addressed Wednesday’s shooting at a Georgia school at an event Thursday in rural Wisconsin.

The president traveled to Westby in the swing state to promote some of the legislation he and Vice President Kamala Harris helped pass that would improve green energy in rural areas.

But he asked the audience if he could address the shooting firsthand: when a 14-year-old shot and killed four people in the first weeks of the school year.

“How can you have an assault rifle in an unlocked house and know that your child knows where it is?” Biden asked. “Parents need to be held accountable for allowing their children to have access to these weapons.”

During his brief remarks, the 81-year-old also confused North and South Korea, while boasting about the return of chip manufacturing to the United States.

“I’m a gun owner. I’m a firm believer in the Amendment,” Biden told the crowd. “We need more than just thoughts and prayers.”

He added “enough is enough” and again encouraged Congress to act.

“Let’s ban assault weapons,” he said.

Addressing the rural audience, he added: “My father is a hunter. I don’t know many deer that wear bulletproof vests.”
