Biden claims ahead of July 4 that he DID get a checkup after the disaster debate, despite the White House saying he didn't just hours before

President Joe Biden is set to celebrate the Fourth of July at the White House on Thursday night, with his future and that of his party hanging in the balance amid mounting pressure for him to resign following his debate performance last week.

The development comes after early Democratic elects spoke out to urge Biden to step back, just weeks before his party’s convention in Chicago. Furious at the White House’s messaging since Biden stumbled in his debate with Donald Trump in Atlanta, the president reassured governors in a private meeting about his health and political viability, even telling them about a recent checkup that found him in good health.

This came shortly after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dodged direct questions during a contentious news conference about whether Biden had been tested since Thursday’s debate.

Biden is set to host veterans’ families, caregivers and survivors at an event that will put him back on the public stage before a pivotal interview with ABC begins airing Friday. Vice President Kamala Harris will be there.

President Joe Biden has admitted that he “blew” his performance in the debate against Donald Trump last week.

In an interview set to air Thursday morning, he urged listeners to examine his record over the past three and a half years in office.

Biden told Milwaukee radio host Earl Ingram:

I had a bad night. And the thing is, I screwed up. I made a mistake. It’s 90 minutes on stage, look what I’ve done in 3.5 years.

Biden’s interview in Milwaukee, his first since his car-crash debate, comes as Republicans prepare to hold their nominating convention in the Wisconsin city later this month.

Democratic delegates are asking for more time to decide whether Joe Biden should be the party’s nominee in November.

Party officials say virtual slates for the presidential nomination will be held by Aug. 7, but rank-and-file members want to postpone that after Biden’s car crash debate and say a month isn’t enough time to decide whether he will lead the November slate.

A delegate from the Northeast Democratic Party told Axios:

We need all the time we can get. There is no way we can make a decision in two or three weeks.

The Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago, Illinois, from August 19 to 22. At the end of that week, the party will officially present its candidate for president in 2024.

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa said:

We are still waiting to hear what Biden will do. We have to feel like we can win this election. Our national Democratic leadership has to make a decision about what is ultimately best for America and the world.

The White House confirmed Thursday that President Biden saw a doctor after his shaky debate performance, to check on a cold that aides say was the cause of his hoarse voice.

“Several days later, the president was seen for testing for his cold and was recovering well,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates told DailyMail.com. There is no indication that he received any further tests.

“A neurological scan? To take a step back, it was a bad night,” he said of the debate. Asked again when Biden was last seen by a doctor, he replied: “I just don’t have anything beyond that.”

Politico reported that Biden told Democratic governors privately that he had been seen by a doctor and was in fine health, knocking on wood for emphasis.

Biden: “I had a bad debate”

President Joe Biden admitted to a Philadelphia radio host that he had a “bad debate” last week but argued it didn’t make up for what he’d done in office.

“I had a really bad debate, but 90 minutes on stage doesn’t erase what I’ve done for three and a half years,” she told WURD Radio’s Andrea Lawful-Sanders.

Biden repeated the argument he has used since his terrible debate performance: that one bad night does not erase his record as president.

Her interview with WURD lasted just under 15 minutes. After the only question about the debate, Lawful-Sanders asked questions about Biden’s record with black Americans.

The president sat down with Black radio hosts in Milwaukee and Philadelphia for his first post-debate interviews.

Biden is scheduled to meet with ABC News on Friday in Wisconsin.

Biden is considering resigning next week

Joe Biden has told aides he may step down as a presidential candidate in 2024, and what could motivate that decision as early as next week.

Allies who have told aides he might drop out as a potential 2024 presidential candidate, and what could push that decision forward as early as next week, could derail his re-election bid.

These include an interview with ABC on Friday night and campaign stops in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, not to mention a campaign call on Wednesday in which he reportedly told campaign staff, “Nobody’s kicking me out.”

An ally told the New York Times: “He knows that if there are two more events like that (the debate), we will be in a different situation.”
