Ben Affleck’s relationship with Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Zac Affleck has been questioned.
The 52-year-old filmmaker, who is divorcing Jennifer Lopez, and his brother Casey Affleck, 49, were believed to be the Hulu star’s second cousins.
But now, a source has said People that no blood relationship exists as online fans have taken a closer look at the relationship.
Zac’s wife Jen first claimed the connection in a TikTok shared in September 2022, following Ben and JLo’s nuptials in Las Vegas.
‘When you thought you were going to be the next JLO. But instead…she stole your name and you’re revealing it to Ms. Rachel,” he wrote in the caption at the time.

She also highlighted the family bond in another TikTok post shared earlier this month, jokingly captioning the clip: “The new Jenny on the block.”
A source close to the situation said the alleged family link is “not true at all.”
‘There is no relationship. I just don’t think that’s very fair either,” the person shared with PEOPLE.
The source explained: “So Zac Affleck is (Jen’s) husband. (His father) is David Affleck. Zac’s grandfather is Gordon Affleck. Zac’s great-grandparents, who are second cousins, are named Alan Burt Affleck.
“So Ben’s father is Tim Affleck. His grandfather is Myron Junior. His great-grandfather is Myron Senior. No, Alan Burt and Myron Sr. are not brothers or anything like that.
Additionally, Zac’s family reportedly has ties to England, while Ben and Casey Affleck’s relatives are from Scotland.
The source speculated that details about the alleged family connection haven’t come to light before because Zac and Jen might be “overwhelmed” by their rapid rise to fame.
A source close to the situation said the alleged family link is “absolutely not true,” adding: “There is no relationship.” I just don’t think that’s very fair either.
Reality TV stars were in the spotlight with the premiere of the Hulu series about Mormon wives.
“This is not your cup of tea,” the person stated. “I imagine, knowing them, that they just hope that all this passes and it’s nothing.”
Days after her ‘Jenny from the block’ social media post, Jennifer Lynn Affleck admitted she had never met the Gone Girl star.
“Zac’s dad (met Ben) when he was very little,” Jennifer told PEOPLE.
And he added: ‘I also hope to meet him one day!’
