Toto has been named by fans as “Australia’s first dog” after his owner defeated former Prime Minister Scott Morrison and was sworn in as Australia’s 31st Prime Minister.

Toto’s new Twitter account features numerous images and videos of the beloved dog taken before and during the election campaign.

‘Hello Australia! Dad thought it would be a good idea to get me a Twitter account, so here I am! Wow!’ reads the title of the publication.

In another image the Labor leader is seen during his campaign smiling while carrying Toto in his arms and standing next to a supporter who is also carrying his dog.

Both dogs are pictured wearing red bandanas with the words “Albo 2022” on the front.

‘Dad took me on a busy furry playdate over the weekend!’ the title said.
