An angry mob has dug up and burned the body of a twisted mother who beheaded her 6-year-old son in a “satanic” ritual in Brazil.
Authorities in the northeastern city of João Pessao said locals on Saturday discovered the grave in the cemetery where Maria Mendes was buried.
The group opened the 26-year-old woman’s coffin, removed her body and set it on fire, Pernambuco Civil Police said.
As of Monday, no arrests had been reported.

Paraíba Military Police responded to an emergency call from neighbors after hearing the helpless boy scream for help and entered the gruesome scene of Mendes sitting in a chair with Alves’s head in her lap.
Mendes was confronted by police and attempted to attack them with a knife before being shot 14 times.
The mother survived the shooting and was rushed to a local hospital. While there, he developed an infection related to his wounds and died on Thursday.
While it is unclear why Mendes killed his own son, authorities found several videos on his cell phone containing satanic beheading rituals.

In an audio provided by the neighbors to the investigators, the child is heard shouting: ‘Help, I’m going to die’, ‘Help, help me’ and ‘Mommy, I love you’.

Authorities searched the house and found her cat suffering in one of the two rooms.
Neighbors told police that Mendes and Alves had moved into the house in August, but not much was known about her.
Paraíba Civil Police Chief Luísa Correia told Brazilian media outlet G1 that the case was archived and declined to comment further.
