Ange Postecoglou was furious with his Tottenham players after a dismal first-half performance against Chelsea.

After a defeat in the north London derby at the weekend, Tottenham were keen to respond in style against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

However, their poor start to the match was punished when Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring to give Chelsea the lead.

And in the 32nd minute, Postecoglou let his players know his feelings and lost his temper on the wing.

He shouted: ‘stop passing him back’, while pointing at Pape Matar Sarr and Cristian Romero.

And Sky Sports commentator Karen Carney said she had never seen Postecoglou so frustrated before.

‘Angry Angry! I’ve honestly never seen him so angry and animated,’ she said.

“They kept getting into the midfield and giving it away and it’s really about Johnson and Son, they missed the ball and lost possession and gave away that free kick that led to the goal.”

Carney added: “Well, they keep playing in that midfield and keep turning the ball over instead of giving your best players 1v1. We haven’t seen enough of them and those three forwards with Kulusevski in the middle haven’t done anything.”

Postecoglou finally made the changes just after the hour when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur replaced Sarr, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.

But the night turned sour for Tottenham when Chelsea extended their lead in the 72nd minute.

Cole Palmer launched a superb free kick which hit the post before Nicolas Jackson headed in the rebound.
