The unpopular mayor of Dolton, Illinois, was booed and ejected from a town meeting and then sued other officials for holding it without her.
America’s so-called “worst mayor,” Tiffany Henyard, arrived to Monday’s town board meeting an hour late and was greeted by outraged residents, reported WGN.
Even though the meeting location was moved to local park district facilities after Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s Office found that Dolton had violated the state’s Open Meetings Law, Henyard attempted to hold a separate board meeting at Village Hall, according to WLS.
Finally, he headed to the park district building and announced he was vetoing everything the board had already voted on.
“I just want to come here and lay down the law as it relates to what’s happening in our village, where we are and where we’re going,” Henyard said.

Henyard was an hour late to the meeting at the park building after he tried to host his own meeting at Village Hall.
Village trustees voted to address Dolton’s deficit, estimated at $2.8 million this year, and approved measures to halt several high-profile vehicle leases.
The next day, Henyard received another lawsuit during a Thornton Township town hall meeting, he reported. NBCChicago.
She told the audience, “I get sued all the time,” as the documents were handed to her.
And then on Thursday, Henyard filed a lawsuit against several village administrators, the village clerk, the administrator and the district of Dolton Park over the chaotic meeting, he reported. fox 32.
Henyard claims he ordered Village Manager Keith Freeman to make sure the meeting followed the Attorney General’s guidelines, but Freeman refused to communicate.
The lawsuit alleges that the agenda for the Oct. 7 meeting was posted in Village Hall on Oct. 4 and an agenda for the park district building meeting appeared next to it.
She quickly left (pictured) as the crowd booed her after she announced she was vetoing everything the board had already voted on.
The next day, Henyard received another lawsuit during a Thornton Township town hall meeting.
The mayor said she canceled her meeting after not enough board members showed up and went to the park building to chair that meeting, but was met with jeers from the crowd.
She accuses the trustees of overstepping their authority and seeks to overturn any decisions made during the meeting.
The lawsuit also asks the court to declare Village Hall the proper place for public gatherings.
Henyard, dubbed “America’s Worst Mayor,” has been embroiled in controversy that includes being evicted from her home for owing more than $3,300 in rent payments.
He also threw an $85,000 party for his city in September, even though the state cut him off for putting his city into debt.
Henyard filed a lawsuit against several village administrators over the meeting, alleging they exceeded their authority.
The event cost about $50,000 of taxpayer money to cover performances and more than $35,000 for activities, equipment and staff.
In August, the Illinois State Comptroller cut off funding to Dolton after Henyard failed to submit financial reports for the use of about $135,000.
Susana Mendoza, the comptroller, threatened to fine the town $78,600 if Henyard did not turn over the reports.
The self-proclaimed ‘Super Mayor’ has a history of absurd spending habits involving misuse of city funds, which plunged the small city into $5 million in debt. The Democrat was elected in 2021 and is Dolton’s first female mayor.
