A luxury mobile home park in California offering a country club lifestyle, ocean views and direct beach access has sold for an estimated $200 million.
Pointe Dume Club, a 95-acre mobile home community in Malibu, is a prestigious neighborhood along the Zuma Beach coastline where homes sell for an average of $2.1 million to $5.6 million.
The site on the Pointe Dume promontory is the largest private oceanfront parcel in Malibu, according to the Los Angeles Times.
And now, the lush property is officially changing hands for the first time since the land was purchased in 1892.
Although the sale price was never disclosed, a source familiar with the details of the deal estimated the sale at nearly $200 million, the highest price ever achieved by a manufactured housing company, the LA Times added.
The lush mobile home park features 297 residences and offers amenities within its 24-hour gated neighborhood such as a heated pool, saunas, tennis court, basketball court, shops and restaurants.
Australian surfer Stephanie Gilmore, 36, rents a home in Pointe Dume after living most of her life on the road.
The park was sold to one of the largest owners of manufactured home communities in the United States, Chicago-based Hometown America Communities, which already operates nearly 80 mobile home communities spread across 12 states.
The luxury mobile home park, located at the western end of Santa Monica Bay and just 50 feet from the expansive white sands of Zuma Beach, has 297 residences.
Despite the new owners, Pointe Dume will continue to operate as usual. There are no plans to remodel the park in any way.
“We are excited to add Pointe Dume to our family of communities in California,” the company said in a statement, according to the LA Times.
‘Pointe Dume is a beautiful property and we intend to manage it in the same manner as the previous owners, honoring current leases and complying with all local regulations.’
‘Hometown is a long-term investor and we value the long-term viability of the market and our communities.’
Amenities include a heated pool, saunas, tennis court, basketball court, car wash, library, laundry facilities, playground, game room, and clubhouse, all in a quiet, family-friendly, 24-hour gated community.

But a beachfront home, especially one in California, will always come with a hefty price tag, and the lush Malibu trailer park is no different.
Pointe Dume Club is one of two mobile home communities in Malibu, the other being Paradise Cove.
Paradise Cove was dubbed by the New York Times as “America’s Most Glamorous Trailer Park” after celebrities like Matthew McConaughey and Pamela Anderson began snapping up the land, according to Property of love.
Pointe Dume Club is considered one of the “most affordable” options when it comes to purchasing real estate in Malibu.
But the prices prove otherwise: it is a caravan park for the rich and famous.
Considered one of the most luxurious RV parks in the United States, Pointe Dume Club is located at the western end of Santa Monica Bay, along the coast and just 50 feet from the expansive white sands of Zuma Beach.
Gilmore isn’t the only famous face at the trailer park: other residents include Bob Dylan, Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson.

Australian pro surfer Stephanie Gilmore was a woman who lived her life on the road, but found a forever home at Pointe Dume Club.
As long as he has a surfboard and a body of water, he’ll be happy. He spent his years traveling, but the glamorous mobile home community in Malibu was a perfect place to settle down.
“It’s like a little country club for Malibu mermaids,” Gilmore said in a NOWNESS YouTube video.
Malibu is a historic surfing hotspot, and with a beach right outside your door, there was no better place to put down roots.
He even refers to the sandy beach outside as his “office.”
Last April, Gideon Yu, Facebook’s former chief financial officer, paid $52 million for a clifftop property in Pointe Dume, all in cash.
The sale was the highest ever paid for a single-family home in Pointe Dume, Robb Report added.
And an even bigger surprise: the huge prices only include the mobile home.
Residents have to lease the land from the owner after purchasing the house.
Although Yu’s new vacation home was never put up for sale, homes currently for sale in the community can be searched online.
But the cheapest price in the neighborhood seems to be at least a million.
So for now, the Pointe Dume RV park will remain just a dream for most.
