An American woman on vacation at a beach in Mexico had an unexpected health scare when her feet became swollen and purple.
Karla Jimenez was on vacation with her sister Mariana Jimenez, 26, and some friends at the Majahuitas Beach Club in Puerto Vallarta in May when she noticed her feet had turned from red to an alarming shade of purple.
The sisters initially thought it was just a bad sunburn and tried to continue their beach vacation that day, but when Karla was unable to walk, they sought medical attention.
Mariana recalled: ‘We all got a little scared and the paramedics came to help her.’
She praised her younger sister for staying calm. A doctor later diagnosed her with an allergic reaction. She was given an injection and antibiotics.
Following the terrifying experience, Karla gave an update sharing that “it was an allergic reaction” and revealed, “I’m fine now!”

The TikTok video was posted on August 22 and garnered nearly a million views.
In the video, Kayla is seen sitting with her swollen, purple-tinged legs stretched out on a couch on the beach. She appeared to be in good spirits and was seen smiling, despite how sore her feet looked.
The caption reads: ‘Her feet turning purple at the beach club was not in the plans.’
According to Mariana, the beach they went to was on an island that could only be accessed by boat.
He said they had only “booked one boat” but his sister “needed emergency transportation.”
After the ordeal, Mariana told the outlet that her sister’s feet were “fine now.”

Despite the turn of events, Karla seemed to have a good attitude and seemed determined to continue having a good time with her friends on her vacation in Mexico despite being on medication and not being able to walk much.
She posted a TikTok video about her experiences of not being able to use her feet while relying on her friends.
In one clip, the young woman looked amused as she was carried by friends who were caught laughing.
The video shows her being carried piggyback several times.
