Alec Baldwin has been accused of using a “calculated and cynical” move to present himself as a “sympathetic family man” through his new TV show, as he prepares to go on trial for the fatal Rust shooting.

The American actor, 66, announced yesterday that he and his wife Hilaria Baldwin will premiere a new reality show.

The announcement was made in a video posted on the movie star’s Instagram account.

The show is billed as a way to give fans a glimpse into the couple’s “ups and downs” as they raise their seven children, the oldest of whom is just 10 years old.

Gloria Allred, a lawyer for Hutchins’ parents and sister, said: “This strikes me as a calculated and cynical public relations move.”

He went on to say that Baldwin’s decision to bring cameras into his home was his attempt to make jurors “think of him as a caring family man rather than the killer of Halyna Huthcins.”

It comes as Baldwin prepares for his manslaughter trial in the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins, a 42-year-old filmmaker who was killed on the set of the film ‘Rust’ in October 2021, after a man punched her. on the chest. bullet fired from a ‘prop firearm’ that Baldwin was holding while rehearsing for a scene.

The show will premiere in 2025 on TLC and will follow the couple as they “open up their lives for the first time and draw everyone in to join in the non-stop love, laughter and drama,” according to a press release.

But there is speculation that the series will document the period before and after the judicial process that began in New Mexico last July.

However, the actor’s attempt to avoid a conviction has become even more complicated, since yesterday it became known that a possible defense witness was recorded saying that she wanted the actor to be imprisoned.

Alec Baldwin (seen on the set of Rust) has his trial scheduled for July. If he is convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison.

Rust gunsmith Hanna Gutierrez-Reed’s alleged comments were revealed in transcripts of her prison phone calls. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter, due to accidentally placing live ammunition in the gun used in the fatal shooting.

Baldiwn has always denied responsibility for Hutchins’ death.

According to an affidavit, Deputy Chief David Halls removed the gun from a cart full of accessories and handed it to Alec, telling him it was a “cold gun,” meaning it had no real bullets.

However, he told investigators that gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed had opened the gun for inspection before handing it to Alec, but that she only remembered checking three of the five bullets.

While Alec claimed that he did not “pull the trigger,” the FBI later ruled that the gun was unlikely to fire on its own after undergoing a series of tests.

Still, the actor told ABC in December 2021 that he was not responsible for what happened.

“Someone put a real bullet in a gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property,” he said.

He has pleaded not guilty at his upcoming trial in July. If he is convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison.
