Aaron Rodgers admits he’s ‘got to play better’ as Jets are annihilated by Steelers in fourth straight defeat

The Aaron Rodgers-led Jets have lost four straight games and are 2-5 through seven weeks.

After the New York Jets suffered their fourth straight loss in a blowout at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Aaron Rodgers is taking more personal responsibility than he did after last week’s loss.

Rodgers said he “has to play better” as New York’s season appears to be slipping.

Sunday night’s 37-15 loss was also the Jets’ first game since acquiring Davante Adams and second game since firing former head coach Robert Saleh.

After last Monday’s loss to Buffalo, Rodgers was overly critical of teammate Mike Williams. Six days later, his tone had changed.

‘I have to play better. That’s the key. I have to play better. Find a way to run the ball better, so we can pass. I think I did some good things in the passing game. Breece obviously had a couple of really good ones. Distribute the ball around Tae, G and Allen. “Mike had a good conversion, but we were able to run the ball better and I was able to play better,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers also said that stopping listening to the media will also help the team. When asked to clarify what outside noise the Jets needed to block out, the 40-year-old said “everything.”

And it all starts with me. The energy, for some reason, at halftime, was a little off. I also felt like I was flat before the game. So I was able to look at myself and see what I can do to have better energy, but we all get better,” Rodgers continued.

There is a tremendous sense of win-now mentality around the Jets because of Rodgers’ age.

Not many other teams in NFL history have bet their franchises on a player in his fifth decade of life without previous results for their franchise.

The Jets will be 2-5 heading into facing the Patriots next week in a must-win situation.

New England is just one of three NFL teams with a league-worst win in seven weeks.
