A truck driver and a tree felling worker were killed in separate workplace tragedies in Western Australia on Tuesday.
The tragedies began to unfold at around 8am in Donnybrook, 200 kilometres south of Perth, when a man suffered fatal injuries while collecting a rubbish bin from the front yard of a residential premises.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Owen Street, where police reportedly found the man slumped under a truck.
The 57-year-old man died at the scene.
WorkSafe WA investigators attended the scene and conducted an examination, a WorkSafe spokeswoman said.
Emergency services were then called to Lilian Road in Maida Vale, in Perth’s east end, at 1.30pm.
“It is believed that a worker was electrocuted while carrying out tree pruning work near high voltage power lines,” the spokeswoman said.
‘WorkSafe and Building and Energy investigators attended the scene.

‘Investigators examined the circumstances of the incidents in order to ensure compliance and prevent future incidents of a similar nature.’
WorkSafe Commissioner Sally North and Director of Energy Safety Saj Abdoolakhan expressed their condolences to the workers’ families, friends and colleagues.
