Forget the Red Wedding: One woman has shared a wedding invitation filled with so many red flags it’s something of a massacre.

The guest, believed to be from the US, took to Reddit to post her horror story, furious after she and her husband were invited to her childhood friend’s wedding – but with caveats.

“I took the card and read it and even though my husband was invited… I would be in another room helping to take care of all the kids there,” wrote the Reddit user, who posts under the name EdenCapwell.

‘Eden’ explained that the bride and groom told her there would be a special room for children in the church, but that she would not be in the pews watching the ceremony.

“I would still have to dress up for a wedding in case I was in any photos, but I would have my reception dinner with the kids and be with all the kids for the ceremony,” the stunned woman shared.

“I took the card and read it and even though my husband was invited… I would be in another room helping take care of all the kids there,” wrote the Reddit user, who posts under the name EdenCapwell.

The 50-year-old then shared the surprise: they were also asked to pay $100 for their meals.

“We got a link to pay for it when we RSVPed digitally,” she shared. “There was also a link to her gift registry.”

The woman said she not only felt insulted at being asked to do that, but she is also disabled and requires a wheelchair and an oxygen tank, meaning it would be difficult for her to care for the child.

“I’m not proud of it, but that’s how it is. I could sit quietly in a room and WATCH the kids, but I’d be pretty useless at stopping a fall or a child from drowning or anything else that requires me to move quickly,” she added.

The woman added that she had been friends with the couple for a long time, not with her husband, which further baffled her.

“Why was he invited to watch the ceremony and be part of the reception and not me?” she asked.

“My husband said he would be happy to babysit and let me attend the wedding and reception, but the invitation specified that only other FEMALE guests would babysit, so I doubt they would let me. To me, it was pure audacity.”

The woman, who explained that her late mother was a friend of the bride’s grandmother, said there are about 200 guests, said she likes children and that although she does not have biological children of her own, she and her husband are father figures to some young adults.

The truth finally came out, when the bride's mother revealed that they did not want the woman's wheelchair or oxygen tank to appear in the photos (file image)

Reddit users were horrified by her story and shared their thoughts on the post, saying it was “in poor taste.”

In an update at the top of the post, the woman said she spoke to her friend, the bride’s mother, and told her she was quite upset about the situation, which ended in a huge fight.

“I told her I understood that the guests were upset because it’s in poor taste to 1) ask you to pay and 2) be TOLD that you’re invited but only to babysit. I told her I wasn’t going to babysit. Absolutely not. No. Just no,” she shared.

The bride’s mother admitted there was backlash from guests for paying for her own meals, but was still furious that she didn’t want to babysit and said that as lifelong friends she would help them more by babysitting rather than “just sitting on a bench watching.”

“I reminded her that I physically couldn’t help at all because, you know, I was legally disabled,” she shared.

They told the woman they understood she couldn’t physically help, but they wanted her to “supervise” with the other babysitters and that they trusted her more.

She responded by telling the bride’s mother that it was insulting to be told she was babysitting.

“I had no desire to babysit, especially dressed in formal clothes,” she fumed.

However, in an update, the real reason the woman was asked to babysit the child was revealed: they admitted they didn’t know if she would be using a walker that day or if she would be in a walker, and if she did, it would “ruin the video (and) the photos.”

After the woman said she could sit on the bench and her husband could hide the wheelchair in the back, the bride’s mother told her that the oxygen tank she uses would take up too much space.

“I said, ‘No, I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t carry a purse and the oxygen tank sits on my lap or between my feet’ (it’s like a little backpack),” she replied, only to be told the oxygen tank would be “a distraction.”

“And there you have it. We exchanged words and she hung up on me. I haven’t been removed from any social media yet, but I hope they will,” the woman wrote.

“I already feel terrible for being like this at 50. I didn’t choose this. I didn’t want this. If she thinks it’s horrible to have her picture taken… imagine living with that,” she continued.

“That’s what I told him before he hung up on me. I’m devastated. Just devastated.”

Reddit users were horrified by her story and shared their thoughts on the post.

“This is not your friend,” one user commented.

“I wonder if this was done on purpose, like they felt they had to invite OP (possibly due to family expectations if they’re longtime friends) but they deliberately added the note to make OP feel as uncomfortable as possible and not want to come,” another mused.

“I agree. This whole wedding sounds tacky. It’s so classless to not only exclude guests, but to put them to work and then expect them to pay for their own food and give a gift on top of that. That’s a BIG YES NO,” another Reddit user commented.

“Since OP has a very obvious and visible disability, I have to assume she ‘didn’t fit’ into the bride’s ‘aesthetic’ for the wedding,” they added.
