This is the moment a Russian soldier narrowly escaped death by throwing his assault rifle at a Ukrainian drone that was a fraction of a second away from killing him.
Footage taken from a separate drone showed two Russian soldiers fighting for their lives on the front lines of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, now in its 30th month.
The small FPV drone was seen flying menacingly around the two soldiers, who were seen firing frantically at it.
While one man tried to get away from the drone, the other just stood there, continuing to shoot at him.
Circling once more, the soldier threw his rifle at the drone, detonating its explosives a fraction of a second too early and narrowly missing it.

The invasion of Ukraine has forced the country to adapt its military capabilities, leading to a heavy reliance on drone warfare.
Ukraine launched more than 140 drones over Russia overnight, officials said Tuesday, killing a woman near Moscow, grounding flights and activating air defenses in several parts of the country.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said in a statement that it had shot down 144 Ukrainian drones overnight: “72 UAVs over the Bryansk region, 20 over the Moscow region, 14 over the Kursk region, 13 over the Tula region” and 25 more over five other parts of the country.
Moscow regional governor Andrey Vorobyov said in a Telegram post that a 46-year-old woman was killed and several people were injured when a UAV damaged at least two high-rise apartment buildings in the Ramenskoye district of the Moscow region, about 30 miles southeast of the Kremlin.
Videos of the attack show flames shooting out of the windows of a multi-story residential building, with dozens of apartments severely damaged.
“I looked out of the window and saw a fireball,” Alexander Li, a resident of the district, told Reuters. “The shockwave blew the window apart.”
The attack marks one of the largest drone strikes against Russia since the start of the war.
As a result of the attack, four airports serving Moscow, including major hubs Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo, cancelled or delayed flights on Tuesday morning, according to state media.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has confirmed that a fire broke out on the runway at Zhukovsky airfield, caused by falling debris from a downed drone.
A major highway leading to the capital was also partially closed.
One terrified resident told Shot media: ‘I saw a fireball and managed to cover my wife.
“It was just a second, one bang and the window shattered. We all got scared and ran in panic.”
