Ringgold police confirmed they were investigating the incident, but told us they couldn’t share more details until it was complete.

McClure’s brother, Collin Le, said: “I have no words for it and the reality hasn’t sunk in yet.”

She posted on Facebook: ‘I guess I’m writing this to make other people aware that taking three extra minutes to check can save someone’s life.’

His brother said: ‘Early this morning, my sister Autumn and her boyfriend were taking my little brother to daycare.

‘While driving on the motorway, a brake caliper and drum flew out of the back of a truck, through the windscreen and struck her in the chest and neck. She died before emergency services could arrive.’

According to Collin, McClure’s 21st birthday is next month.

“I could go on for days about how sweet and kind she was, how unfair she was, and how much it hurts my heart,” she said.

Collin started a GoFundMe to raise money for the immediate family during this difficult time.

“Autumn was a lifelong resident of Soddy-Daisy. Autumn was the Class of 2022 honor student at Soddy-Daisy High School,” the GoFundMe said.

She had an associate degree from Chattanooga State Community College and was currently enrolled in the Graphic Design Program there.

‘Autumn loved the beach and animals, especially her pets. She enjoyed going to concerts, paddle boarding and hiking.’
