U2 star Adam Clayton has revealed that he and his wife Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have divorced after more than a decade.
The guitarist, 64, and the lawyer, 45, said their separation was amicable and that they will be parents together of their six-year-old daughter Alba.
The news was confirmed by a representative for the couple, who shared a statement to the World Sunday which read: ‘After more than 10 years of marriage, musician Adam Clayton and lawyer Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have amicably divorced.
“They will both continue to be fully involved in their daughter’s care and ask that the family’s privacy be respected.”
Adam and Mariana married in an intimate ceremony at a Dublin registry office in 2013.

The guitarist, 64, and the lawyer, 45, said their separation was amicable and that they will co-parent their six-year-old daughter Alba (pictured in 2016).
The couple then held a second ceremony days later on the French Riviera at the 14th-century castle in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, with Adam’s bandmates Bono and The Edge in attendance.
At the time it was reported that Adam would be swapping Dublin for London, where Mariana worked as associate director of art gallery Hauser & Wirth, after a career as a human rights lawyer.
They then welcomed their daughter Alba in July 2017 and took out a personal ad in the Irish Times newspaper to share their happy news with the world.
The notice simply said: “Adam and Mariana Clayton are delighted to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl Alba.”
Adam welcomed his first child, a boy, with an unnamed French woman in 2010, making him the latest U2 member to become a father.
He previously had a high-profile romance with supermodel Naomi Campbell, and even got briefly engaged in 1994, before breaking up later that year.
Adam also popped the question to Susie Smith, Paul McGuinness’s former assistant, in 2006, but the couple split in February the following year.
Referring to his singleness during an interview with q magazine in 2001, he said, “I think one of the best things about bands is that they allow you to be irresponsible for longer, whether or not it’s a really healthy position.”

“I guess I’ve been lucky because I was fucking around until I was 30 and now I can have a more balanced perspective.” “I think that not having a family or children, I know what I need.”
Adam and Mariana dated for about four years before getting married, and Adam popped the question during the Rio de Janeiro Carnival in Brazil in 2012.
She spoke about the start of their romance in June 2017, after receiving the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his support of the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides musicians with access to recovery treatments.
In his speech Adam recalled: “I was in Brazil and I met a lawyer who was smart and beautiful. We started dating.
‘I married Mariana soberly. I didn’t think that would happen. She’s never seen me drinking, but she does know I’m crazy.
“Thank you, Mariana, for the wonderful life we have together and for making each day more meaningful.”
The news comes a week after Adam, who has been with U2 since their formation, made a surprise appearance on Gardeners’ World.
The rock star toured his incredible garden for the show and noted that it had taken 30 years to get to this stage, causing viewers to flood social media with surprise and admiration for his garden.
They previously had a high-profile romance with supermodel Naomi Campbell, even briefly getting engaged in 1994, before splitting that same year (pictured in 1993).
