Ben Cousins made a surprising admission ahead of his Dancing With The Stars debut.
The AFL great, 45, appeared on Channel Seven’s The Front Bar on Wednesday to chat about his incredible career and how he is happier than ever.
Cousins, who will be taking part in DWTS later this year alongside a host of celebrities, revealed the challenging side of the popular dance show and admitted that training for the competition hasn’t been easy.
“It’s been very difficult,” he told Front Bar panelists Sam Pang, Mick Molloy and Andy Maher.
‘This is nothing like anything I’ve done before. It was hard to learn, but it was also hard in terms of the hours it took to do the program.

‘That being said, I have missed the life of a professional athlete. I didn’t move like one, but I lived the lifestyle like one.’
Despite being on his feet for hours during dance sessions, as well as being wary of potential injuries, the Brownlow Medal winner admitted his body “held up very well” during practice.
Cousins, who has been rebuilding his life in recent years after a fall from grace, announced that he would appear in the competitive dance show earlier this year.

The footballer says he was approached several times by Channel Seven’s SAS Australia, known for signing controversial public figures.
While Cousins has refused so far, he agreed to do Dancing With The Stars because he believes focusing on a new challenge will help him rebuild his life.
The athlete told the Herald of the sun She previously agreed to participate in the dance competition in 2008 before changing her mind.
“It’s been very difficult,” he told Front Bar panelists Sam Pang, Mick Molloy and Andy Maher. ‘This is nothing like anything I’ve done before. It was hard to learn, but it was also hard in terms of the hours it took to do the program.
“I’m in a pretty good place at the moment and I’m in a position to take on some new challenges and this has come and probably for the first time in quite a while I’m in a position to try it.” ‘ he said.
“This worked when I was in a mental state and wanted to throw myself into something.”
Meanwhile, the full Dancing with the Stars 2024 cast has finally been confirmed.

As well as Cousins, four-time Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune will strut the dance floor alongside MasterChef darling Julie Goodwin and former AFL WAG Nadia Bartel.
They will join singer Samantha Jade, SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton, AFL legend Shane Crawford and Olympian and former senator Nova Peris.
Rounding out this year’s competitors are comedian Nikki Osborne, Home and Away’s James Stewart, Better Homes and Gardens host Adam Dovile and chef Hayden Quinn.
This year’s stars are currently in rehearsal and the show will premiere on Channel Seven later this year.
