Lorraine Kelly has candidly revealed she has “always wondered what could have been” after suffering a miscarriage more than 20 years ago.
In an interview with Saga magazine, the presenter, 64, admitted: ‘Sometimes I wonder what could have been. You have this parallel life that didn’t happen’ (pictured with his daughter Rosie in 2021)
He added: “I think it’s good that we talk a lot more about things like this.” We are more open and you should be.
‘You should be allowed to grieve and go through the whole process as suits you. Some people don’t want to talk about it and others do. It’s what suits you best.
The presenter and her husband tried unsuccessfully to conceive again but they did not succeed and although she thinks it ‘would have been nice’ to have had more children, she feels ‘lucky’ to have Rosie.
She said: ‘It didn’t happen to us. We weren’t doing anything to prevent it from happening. But we never decided to do anything about it, like IVF or tests.
‘And when you realize it’s not happening… I was in my early forties and I thought our time had passed.
‘But we were very lucky to have Rosie, a happy and healthy little girl. “It would have been nice, but there are still a lot of positives to just having one.”
Rosie was just five years old when Lorraine suffered a miscarriage, and in 2020, Lorraine and her daughter discussed the incident with OK! Magazine.
Rosie told the publication: ‘I remember. We were in Dundee. She was in the car with dad following the ambulance. But it was fine; I had no idea what was going on.’

Lorraine also previously spoke to Giovanna Fletcher on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast about her loss and said going through a miscarriage was “really difficult”.
She explained: “That was a really difficult time and I think yes, of course, we should absolutely sympathize with women who go through this, but no one asked about Steve.”
‘No one ever said ‘How are you?’ The only people who did it, interestingly enough, were friends who experienced it themselves, and unfortunately, as we know, too many people experience it.
“I think we have to be a little more considerate with everyone and not only with partners but also with family.”
