Amaravati:
The TDP has named Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, father of Raghava Magunta, an accused-turned-approver in the Delhi excise tax scam case, as its candidate for the Ongole Lok Sabha seat.
Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy was elected from Ongole Lok Sabha constituency in 2019 on YSRCP ticket. He quit the ruling party and recently cited ‘self-respect’ issues in the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led party.
The TDP on Friday announced the candidature of Mr Reddy from Ongole constituency.
Reacting to the allotment of the seat to Srinivasulu Reddy, political analyst Telkapalli Ravi told PTI, “That is the paradox of contemporary politics. While we talk about high morals and attack and criticize others, we forget all morals in our case.”
Magunta Raghava was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last year in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. He later became an approver.
The TDP has teamed up with the BJP in the southern state for the upcoming elections.
The Enforcement Directorate is investigating the excise policy scam case in Delhi.
