Police had to shut down a Versace sample sale in New York City after a violent fight allegedly broke out between bargain hunters.
TikTokers captured the commotion outside the Big Apple store following a dispute over who was at the front of the line of around 10,000 people, who had been waiting around 24 hours for the 80 per cent off event.
One woman described the scene as a “ghetto” and said shoppers had even “broken the glass in one of the doors”, while a girl had been taken away in an ambulance after being “stomped on”.
“If you were thinking about coming to the Versace sale in New York City, don’t come,” a woman at the location said on TikTok.
One intrepid buyer who traveled from out of state for the sale said, “I can’t believe it.”

This is a ghetto. It’s a ghetto. They closed it. They even broke the glass in one of the doors.
“They have been fighting among themselves, one girl had to leave in the ambulance because they trampled her.”
A man outside the store said the violence was sparked by a dispute over who was at the front of the line.
“People ran to the front and then they stood there, and then the people in the second group argued about it and then there was complete chaos,” he said in another TikTok video.
“They promised that the second half of the line would go first before the others, but they didn’t deliver,” his friend added.
“So now there’s all this chatter out front, people not moving their cars, people fighting with the staff, people fighting with each other… they canceled the sale!”
A one-minute time lapse of people waiting in line showed that nearly 10,000 hopeful bargain hunters had turned up for the event only to leave empty-handed.
‘New Yorkers are crazy again!’ said the user who posted the time lapse in the caption, adding that “over 9,999 people waited 24 hours in line for the 80 percent off event.”
Another TikToker described the sample sale as “a disaster” while filming hundreds of people still lining the sidewalks after police shut down the event.

‘I came to New York for the Versace sale and left with nothing… they closed everything. This is crazy.’
He added that the sample sale was supposed to run from Wednesday to Saturday, but buyers were left confused about whether it was canceled entirely.
Their video showed hundreds of people milling around alongside several NYPD vehicles with blue lights flashing at the scene.
It is unclear how the alleged fight began.
