Paige Spiranac criticized Chris DiMarco on social media after the former Masters runner-up complained about playing for a $2 million prize fund on the Champions Tour.
DiMarco, a three-time PGA Tour winner, even went so far as to plead for Saudi-backed LIV Golf to buy the Champions Tour and increase money for the tour designed for players 50 and older.
The 55-year-old told the Subpar Podcast: “We hope LIV buys the Champions Tour.”
‘Let’s play here for some real money. I mean, this is kind of a joke when we’re getting $2 million (at last week’s Hoag Classic).
“There were like seven guys last week (at the PGA Tour’s Players Championship) that made more money than our purses.”
Paige Spiranac called out Chris DiMarco for his recent comments about money in golf
DiMarco, 55, lamented playing for a “small” $2 million prize pool on the Champions Tour.
Spiranac soon took notice of DiMarco’s comments and mocked him on his X account.
This sparked a strong reaction from the golf influencer, who took to X and wrote to her million followers: “Chris DiMarco has earned over $22 million throughout his career on the course.”
‘That number does not include sponsorship money. Raise your hand if you’re tired of professional golfers complaining about money.
DiMarco had not responded to Spiranac on X as of Tuesday night, but if the golf influencer sees more of her quotes on the podcast, she’ll likely be even less impressed.
‘See you later. “I left,” he said in response to whether he would have joined LIV during his best days as a player.
He continued: ‘Golf has come a long way, and it should. I don’t blame any of those guys for going to LIV.
‘For me it would be a purely monetary issue. “We’re talking about generational money that these guys are making, and it would be nice to have that in the bank and take care of my kids.”
