Shocking video has been released of a domestic violence suspect desperately fleeing California police by clinging to a moving vehicle before being shot by officers.
Juan Valdez, 40, was pursued relentlessly on Jan. 27, 2024, by officers who had been contacted by an individual who was “concerned” about a friend whom he had allegedly threatened to kill, police say.
The Lathrop Police Department was dispatched to conduct a welfare check on the alleged victim and her daughter and found the woman, who described Valdez as “psychotic,” to be “visibly stressed.”
Officers’ attempts to interact with Valdez led to a wild vehicle chase after the suspect fled southbound on I-5.
Valdez attempted to escape the police chase, even accelerating down the highway at one point, but after multiple confrontations with patrol cars his vehicle’s tires fell apart.
