Mike Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro has no concerns about Tyson suffering a possible brain injury when he returns to the ring to face Jake Paul on July 20.

Cordeiro signed off on Tyson’s first professional fight since 2005 despite a stern warning from doctor Stephen Hughes, who sounded the alarm over potentially fatal consequences for Tyson.

There will be a 31-year age difference between the fighters when they face off in four months.

Although Tyson is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time and Paul has fought more celebrities than trained boxers, many are concerned about Tyson’s ability to continue to perform at a high level .

One of those Tyson haters now is Cordeiro, who trains with Tyson at the gym daily.

“I don’t think we need to worry about that. We are talking about a double world champion,” Cordeiro said on “MMA time”. “The guy hasn’t had 20 fights in two years, he knows how to fight.

“He fought against the best guys in the world,” Cordeiro continued. “When he gets in the ring, he knows what to do. This isn’t anything new for Mike, and this fight is no different. He works hard every day to go out there and try to knock Jake out from start to finish. He will prove it in July.

Still, Paul showed legitimate punching power, leading to many concerns for Tyson’s health if “The Problem Child” made any hay.

“In older people, the brain tends to lose volume,” Hughes said. The conversation. “This lengthens the bridging veins and makes them more vulnerable to rupture.”

“Bleeding from these torn veins causes a pool of blood that puts pressure on the brain. This causes confusion, loss of consciousness, neurological disability and, in some cases, death,” Hughes added.

Paul recently transitioned from celebrity fights against Nate Robinson and Anderson Silva to trained boxers. His only defeat was against a trained boxer, Tommy Fury.

Of Tyson’s 50 career victories, 44 have come by knockout. In November 2020, Tyson fought Roy Jones Jr. in an 8 round exhibition which ended in a draw.

Paul was born two months after Tyson’s first loss to Evander Holyfield, dropping “Iron Mike” to 45-2 at the time.
