Republican Senator Bill Cassidy demands the return of millions of taxpayer dollars paid to dead Americans.

Cassidy, the top Republican on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, says nearly 3,500 dead Americans got more than $127 million through a Democratic-led pension “bailout” included in the Rescue Plan US.

The top Republican sent a letter to the Central States Pension Fund on Monday demanding a refund for hard-working taxpayers.

The Louisiana lawmaker claims dead Americans received millions in Special Financial Assistance (SFA) bailouts as a result of Democrats’ American Rescue Plan, passed in 2021.

And the agency has not returned the excess funding.

The law authorized the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) to provide billions of dollars in bailout funds for pensions across the country, but the corporation, Cassidy says, did not adequately verify the central states’ request.

“As a result, PBGC failed to account for the 3,479 dead participants that Central States included in their SFA bailout request,” Cassidy wrote in a letter to the Executive Director of the Central States, Thomas Nyhan.

‘Reliance on PBGC resulted in Central States receiving $127 million in overpaid funds for nearly 3,500 applicants who were deceased at the time of their application.’

The central states’ request for taxpayer-funded bailout money totaled $35.8 billion and the PBGC approved it in its entirety, according to the letter.

It was later discovered that the central states included 3,479 dead participants in their request for ransom money.

“In other words, the additional $127 million that the core states received as a result of their own inability to provide accurate census information was a windfall to the core states to which they were not otherwise entitled,” Cassidy wrote.

“Attorneys for the central states have rejected my staff’s requests to return bailout funds overpaid by the SFA to American taxpayers,” he added.

The Central States Pension Fund did not respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

However, the American Rescue Plan was not the only Covid-era legislation that awarded taxpayer dollars to the dead.

The Treasury Department sent more than $1.4 billion in stimulus payments to Americans who died during the Covid pandemic.

As of April 30, 2020, the Treasury sent checks to 1.1 million dead, according to a Government Accountability Office report.

Additionally, a 2023 Associated Press analysis found that more than $400 billion in Covid relief was lost to fraud or wasted.

Cassidy requested that the central states respond to his letter by March 11 with answers on whether or not the pension will commit to reimbursing taxpayers.
