The draw for the group stage was only made on Friday, and the matches were published on Saturday, and UEFA announced that Chelsea would play Real Madrid on Tuesday, October 8, just two days after their game against United, which was to be broadcast live on Sky Sports. .
Both Chelsea and the WPLL asked UEFA to postpone the Blues match, but the governing body, which published its match schedule more than a year ago, stood by its decision.
A WPLL spokesperson said: “Due to the scheduling of Chelsea’s first UWCL group stage match, the BWSL match between Chelsea and Manchester United due to take place on Sunday 6 October has been postponed.
