Bella Trezza, 17, had picked up her brother Austin, 18, and three of their friends from a party around 1 a.m. Saturday and was dropping them off at home when the car they were riding in was struck by a Kia sedan in West Babylon, Long Island.
Riley Goot, 18, died in the crash, along with the driver of the other car, Michael Desmond, 33.
Police said Desmond failed to stop at a red light.

“Bella is on life support after suffering severe brain trauma,” a family friend said.
“He has lost his spleen, a huge amount of blood and has more broken bones than the doctors wanted to count.”
Bella’s injuries have been described as “so devastating, especially knowing what a bright ray of sunshine she is in this world.”
His brother Austin, along with Jack Murphy, 18, and Anthony Pagliuca, 16, remain in hospital with various injuries.
Austin is “stable” after “multiple surgeries… with a long road ahead and more surgeries and rehab on the horizon.”

‘Any parent’s worst nightmare’
Parents Jay and Kelly have been keeping vigil at Bella and Austin’s bedsides since the tragedy, facing mounting medical bills and “the uncertainty of what lies ahead” for their two children.
Jay shared several photos of Bella this week in the wake of the tragedy.
“My bells. My baby,” she wrote.
‘Please, please, please, please love me, my Bells.’
Jack Murphy also remains hospitalized after the accident. “He is now breathing on his own, responding and trying to talk.”
Anthony Pagliuca, 16, is also hospitalized
Jay and Kelly have two other children, and the entire family has been described as “active and caring” members of the local community.
Austin has been a volunteer firefighter with the local department since 2023, while Bella is a senior at St John the Baptist High School and dreams of one day becoming a nurse.
There is also a separate GoFundMe campaign for Riley’s family following her tragic death.
‘We lost an incredible young man, a ray of light, Riley Goot, only 18 years old, who graduated last year.
‘His family is devastated. Riley was an amazing big brother, friend, son, student and athlete.
“Anyone who knew Riley knew how amazing he was and he will be missed.”
