Neto does it again
Neto scored again on the counterattack on that left flank, and it’s a cliché, but it seems like something is going to happen every time he receives the ball.
He bursts into the box and looks to find Hwang, but after a botched pass, he shoots for a goal kick on the rebound and raises his hand in apology.
Brilliant start from the Portuguese winger.
Great opportunity for the Wolves!
Neto plays on the left and puts a very provocative ball to the other side of the area behind the defensive line.
He launches himself brilliantly at the far post, but Pablo Sarabia is on his heels and fails to dodge it with his foot in the slide.
Fantastic ball, but not final enough to equalize and an early warning for the Blades.
Blades giving off retro Bayern Munich vibes
Sheffield United’s kit is very discordant, with red shorts and a red and white striped shirt.
The black shorts, of course, would not match the hosts’, so there has been a late change.
He gives off retro Bayern Munich vibes, although we’ll have to see if Ahmedhodzic can channel his inner Beckenbauer today.
All Wolves have the ball so far, as expected.
Kick off!
The hosts get us going.
The applause of the moment for a club legend
Before we begin, there is a moment of applause for sadly deceased club legend Paul Bradshaw, a veteran of the 1980 League Cup winning team.
Observed respectfully, with his son and grandson also in the crowd.
Takeoff is just around the corner, friends!
We have less than five minutes left until takeoff and they are already standing in the tunnel waiting to leave.
Wolves have already scored 39 goals this season, more than in their last three campaigns, and today have the chance to jump to eighth place and one point behind Brighton.
Sheffield United would move up to 19th but would still be five points from safety if they win.
Who do we think will emerge victorious? The start is just around the corner. I hope you are all ready!
‘What’s all the fuss about Neto?’, I hear you ask…
You may be wondering what all the fuss is about Pedro Neto, and maybe that’s fair.
Sure, we’re all a little guilty of focusing more on the top six or seven teams, but Neto has been flying.
Only two league goals this season in 16 games, but he has provided nine assists, meaning he has a contribution-per-game ratio of 0.68, which is much better than one in two.
His pace and agility in attack from wide positions have torn apart many defenses so far this season, and he will surely be the one to keep an eye on the Blades defenders.
This is what happened with Hwang…
In my defense, this is what happened when Hwang fell.
Not very encouraging scenes, but fortunately the striker has made a miraculous recovery.
Rip: The panic is over: Hwang is back in action!
Well, this is uncomfortable…
After all that, Hwang gets up and gets back into action in the warm-up!
He gave us all a little scare when he fell holding his ankle, but now he participates in the shooting drills.
So after all that, he left some of us a little blushing and seems ready to play the game.
Sorry Wolves fans…
To put it in context, that would be the second attacking blow for the hosts in a week after it emerged that Matheus Cunha was likely to miss the entire season after he was ruled out of playing for Brazil in March.
With Pedro Neto being the most dangerous player on the left attack, that will surely be a concern for O’Neil’s side as they look to grab some European football at the end of the season.
Let’s just say Neto hasn’t exactly been blessed by the fitness gods, as he’s missed nine games this season.
For more information about Cunha’s situation, you can consult the following link.
Rip: Bad news for the wolves…
Reports are emerging that Hwang fell during warm-up for today’s match.
It’s unclear if the South Korean will take part in today’s match, but we’ll bring you more information as it develops.
Some statistics to get your whistles going
The Wolves have been playing wonderful things at times this season going forward; You would think that Pedro Neto in particular would surely receive some big offers this summer.
They have already won one less than their total tally for 2022-23 and are in the hunt for a seventh-place finish this season.
But, curiously, they are the only team that does not score from outside the area.
A player who scored perhaps the goal of the season from distance, James McAtee, could become the first Blades player to score on the road in three straight games in more than 50 years.
And if you think that’s bad, the Blades have already shipped 65 – in just 25 games – and that’s the most after 25 games in the league in over 60 years!
One of the four changes made by Wilder today was implemented, with Holgate receiving a red card last time out against Brighton.
However, the defender sadly revealed that he has been subjected to vile racist abuse on social media since then, sharing screenshots of the horrific messages sent to him.
Take a look at the link below to learn more about it.
What’s the expectation, Blades fans?
Chris Wilder has been speaking to the media before the start here at Molineux.
He stated that it is a group of very ‘committed’ players, who will continue until the end, and there is no doubt that Wilder knows this group well enough to be the best placed to get the most out of them.
But what’s a reasonable expectation here against an in-form Wolves team?
Has a season of strong results eroded any optimism Blades fans have left, or is there still full support that United can overcome the drop, with the clash starting strongly today?
It’s a great game for both sides.
The teams are in place and already making their pre-game preparations, ahead of a massive match for both sides.
For the Wolves it is something that can catapult them into the European conversation, while for the visitors it is something that can show that they will not give up without a fight.
The Blades are still eight from safety, but a win wouldn’t be a case of too little too late with another 12 games to come.
A win for Wolves today and they move up to eighth place, eighth!
Not many would have predicted that when Julen Lopetegui made way for Gary O’Neil less than a week before the first game of the season and with very little investment during the summer.
The former Bournemouth boss surely has to be a candidate for manager of the season after what he did at Molineux.
He’s the man most of the big guns are sure to be keeping an eye on, and you can read every word of his exclusive interview with Mail Sport’s chief sports editor OLIVER HOLT below…
Boyhood Blade could make the beginning of a dream
For a visitor it could be a day they will never forget.
Boyhood Blade Oliver Arblaster, still only 19, could make his first Premier League appearance for the club, having played five times for the senior team.
The scenes where he would score the winner in added time today would be incredible!
This is what happened last time…
It was a high drama clash last time out, with Oli Norwood, back in the team today, sealing a 2-1 win at Bramall Lane for the Blades.
Wow, do you need something similar today?
UNITED SHEFF XI
Meanwhile, the Blades make FOUR changes for this afternoon’s clash…
