The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, Jennifer Lopez's documentary about her romance with Ben Affleck, sparked a surge in viewership amid news of their divorce

The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, Jennifer Lopez’s documentary about her romance with Ben Affleck, has seen a surge in viewership amid news of her divorce.

After news that Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, made headlines, streaming numbers for her documentary on Prime Video spiked in just 24 hours.

The singer released her independently produced project, which chronicles how the couple rekindled their romance after 20 years apart and explores their journey toward self-love, earlier this year on February 27.

However, the biggest increase in viewership came after the revelation that they had secretly split up just weeks after the premiere of their documentary.

According to Luminate, The Greatest Love Story Ever Told received a 3,000 percent increase in viewership in the 24 hours after it was revealed that Lopez filed for divorce after two years of marriage.

It was previously revealed that Lopez did not want to give up on her marriage and spent months trying to save her relationship but was unable to fix the “darkness” in it.

Billboard reported that the number of minutes watched in the US increased from 10.7k on Tuesday to 354.1k minutes on Wednesday.

Lopez’s film documents the making of her album This Is Me… Now and chronicles how she and her now-estranged husband almost married nearly two decades ago, but ended up calling off their engagement in 2004.

The couple rekindled their romance in 2021 and tied the knot the following year.

And since news of their divorce hit headlines, several of Affleck’s quotes from the documentary have resurfaced online.

Fans claimed she was alluding to the tension in their marriage by pointing out his distinctively selfless behavior, which was said to have escalated when Lopez showed off love letters he had written to her.

At one point in the film, he seemed surprised that her love letters were no longer private and she had shown them to other people.

He recalled his discovery, saying: ‘One day I came home and she told me: “Musicians are coming, this great producer Rogét (Chahayed), blah, blah, blah.”

“And then I went down there and the book that I had given him was there,” she recalled.

‘She said, ‘I’ve been reading, this is the kind of inspiration, I’ve been showing them the book.’

“I said, ‘Have you been showing all the musicians all those letters?’ And they said, ‘Yeah, we call you Pen Affleck.’ And I said, ‘Oh my God.'”

The number of minutes watched in the United States rose from 10.7 thousand on Tuesday to 354.1 thousand minutes on Wednesday following her divorce filing.

Another enlightening example from the documentary was when Lopez revealed that Affleck was “not comfortable” being her muse and divulging details about their private relationship in public, fans noted.

“He loves me, he knows I’m an artist, and he’s going to support me in any way he can because he knows he can’t stop me from making the music I made and writing the words I wrote. But that doesn’t mean he’s comfortable being the muse.”

The viewership surge comes after Lopez filed for divorce earlier this week on the anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia in August 2022.

In legal documents obtained by DailyMail.com, Lopez also listed their official separation date as April 26, revealing that the estranged couple continued to act as if they were still together even amid marital turmoil and rumors of an “impending” divorce that ran rampant for months.
