The Democratic National Convention concluded Thursday night with a primetime acceptance speech by Vice President Kamala Harris.

Though some critics criticized her thank-you-laden introduction, Harris was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd when she formally accepted the Democratic nomination for president.

Now, with the DNC and RNC wrapped up, the race for the White House is set to enter its final stretch with just 74 days until the election.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter sparked a backlash after calling Tim Walz’s autistic son, Gus, “weird” for crying during his father’s speech at the Democratic National Convention.

Coulter, 62, spoke to X hours after Gus’ proud reaction to his father’s speech spread across social media, where he burst into tears and pointed at his dad on stage.

After the taunt was met with outrage, Coulter deleted the tweet and issued a semi-apology, saying she “took it down as soon as someone told me I was autistic,” while attempting to turn the insult back at Democrats.

“But it’s the Democrats who go around calling everyone weird, thinking it’s hilariously funny,” he said.

In another tweet responding to someone who jokingly compared getting the controversial pundit to delete a tweet to “picking up Thor’s hammer,” Coulter doubled down: “Democrats are the ones who decided it’s okay to call people ‘weird.'”

Beyoncé fans left heartbroken after star fails to appear as ‘special guest’

Ahead of Kamala Harris’ primetime speech to close out the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night, rumors spread that a “special guest” was set to introduce her.

But shortly after the report sparked chaos on the convention floor, a rep for Beyoncé told The Hollywood Reporter that “the report of a performance is false” and said the “Freedom” singer was never scheduled to appear.

Despite the fanfare surrounding the “special guest” (which also included Taylor Swift’s name), a DNC source later told The Washington Post that there was never a special guest planned in the first place.

TMZ admitted its mistake after Harris closed the convention, saying, “To quote the great Beyoncé: We gotta drop the cards, drop them, drop them…we messed up on this one.”

Country legends The Chicks came under fire for an off-key and bizarre rendition of the National Anthem at the Democratic National Convention.

The Nashville natives, who created a firestorm of controversy 20 years ago for their criticism of George W. Bush and the Iraq War, were a long-awaited triumph for the Democratic National Convention on its final night.

However, her rendition of the national anthem was almost universally criticized, even by fans of the band formerly known as ‘The Dixie Chicks’ before they dropped the d-word in 2020.

David Knowles wrote: ‘I still marvel at how out of tune the Chicks’ rendition of the national anthem was.’

“That was terrible and I like his music,” added one social media user on X.

Others were a little more agitated: “Wow… Maybe your monitors weren’t working. I don’t know. But that was awful. At least you had the dignity to finish and then smile. I almost feel sorry for you. I almost…”

Another put it more bluntly: “Incredibly out of tune. Good job, Has Beins.”

“They sounded like they were hard of hearing. The Chicks are iconic for their harmonies… something must have gone wrong,” wrote a more sympathetic listener.

The band — Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer — made no reference to the audio quality and simply retweeted a video from a pro-Kamala Harris account.

“I was so touched to see Gus Walz’s joy when his father @Tim_Walz walked on stage last night. I’m grateful for showing us all what true love looks like, Gus,” former first lady Michelle Obama posted on X.

“Let’s be a nation that embraces this kind of warmth and vulnerability, rather than mocking or scoffing at it. We could all use a little of that.”

Ann Coulter shared an image of Gus overcome with emotion as his vice presidential candidate father took the stage in Chicago on Wednesday, captioning it: “Talking about weird stuff.”

But Coulter was quickly informed that Gus has a nonverbal learning disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and an anxiety disorder.

He has since deleted the post.

Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, took the stage Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention ahead of her stepmother, or “Momala,” for an emotional tribute and rallying support.

The 25-year-old model and entertainer was all smiles as she was joined on stage by the vice president’s niece, Meena Harris, and goddaughter Helena Hudlin.

Tattooed, with her hair slicked back and dressed in an ice-blue and white off-the-shoulder dress designed especially for the occasion by Joe Ando, Emhoff set the Internet alight with her appearance on the convention stage.

Emhoff, known for her knitting, knitted the flower onto the sleeve of her dress herself, Ando revealed.

‘Ella Emhoff’s dress just won the #DNCConvention2024,’ one user wrote on X.

“Ella Emhoff will be a fashion icon,” wrote another.

“They forced Ella Emhoff to wear a dress for this,” joked one X user of the artist who tends to opt for more hipster looks. “Oh my god, Kamala Harris wants power.”
