A source close to the world of television revealed that a new coach of The Voice is “nervous” about his edition.

Australian singer Kate Miller-Heidke, 42, made her debut on the singing competition on Monday alongside fellow coaches Guy Sebastian, LeAnn Rimes and Adam Lambert.

A source close to the show claims Kate’s highly competitive style with her co-stars is being used by producers to “create” drama.

And now fans seem to be upset with the way the Last Day on Earth hitmaker has been making “mean” comments directed at the other judges.

“It seems like it was put there to stir things up a bit,” said the source, described as a “production insider.” Yahoo Lifestyle On Wednesday.

They continued: ‘I think Kate is only now realising the role she is playing amongst the coaches after watching this week’s episodes.

“I’m sure Kate would have liked to have been given a heads up during filming in Sydney earlier this year. Surely the producer would have been creating storylines and picking up on her judging style.”

Meanwhile, some viewers have criticised Kate’s style on social media, particularly the way she appears to “undermine” the other coaches during auditions.

Kate’s efforts to persuade contestant Tia Barnes to join her team included a joking suggestion to the young performer to “not listen to the nonsense they (the other coaches) say.”

“I love Kate, but I noticed she’s making some mean comments tonight,” one fan commented after this week’s episode.

“I’m not sure she realizes how she’s perceiving it. I know it’s a competitive thing, but this is a little different.”

Meanwhile, Kate’s style has also been praised for not being “politically” correct.

“She’s Australian, guys. And she doesn’t seem to put on a ‘politically correct and conscious’ facade. In fact, I have more and more respect for her ‘realness’. Go Kate!” wrote one fan.

“Kate is so good on this show,” wrote another.

Another fan commented: “There is absolutely nothing wrong with what Kate said. She is amazing.”

This comes after new coach LeAnn Rimes was reportedly “disappointed” that the singing competition’s young contestants didn’t know who she was during blind auditions.

The 41-year-old American musician rose to fame in the late 1990s for being the youngest person to win a Grammy Award at the age of 14.

Best known for her work on the soundtrack to the hit 2000 film Coyote Ugly, sources claim LeAnn was embarrassed when some on The Voice had to be told who she was, it was reported. Women’s Day on Mondays.

‘Behind the scenes, the contestants were really given a strong explanation of why they should choose LeAnn and once they realized how important she was at the time and who she was working with, people changed their minds quickly.’
