- Álvaro Morata and Alice Campello separate seven years after getting married
- The Spanish captain and his Italian wife released statements on Monday
- Morata and Campello insisted that their breakup was not the result of infidelity or “any kind of lack of respect”
Former Chelsea and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and his wife Alice Campello have separated after seven years of marriage.
Morata confirmed their split on Monday in an Instagram post that read: ‘After some time of reflection, Alice and I have made the decision to separate. A WONDERFUL and RESPECTFUL reciprocal relationship in which we have loved and helped each other a lot.
‘These have been wonderful years and the fruit of them are our four children, who are undoubtedly the best thing we have ever done.
‘It is a painful decision, so we ask for respect and empathy. Do not invent stories to get a minute of limelight because I repeat: there has never been any lack of respect, only many continuous misunderstandings that little by little wear things down.
‘Alice will always have a special place in my heart and everything we have experienced together has been incredible and a great learning experience.’

For her part, Campello wrote: ‘Álvaro and I have decided to separate, and it is the most difficult decision we have ever made in our lives. I want to make it clear, as he has done, that there has been no third party or any kind of lack of respect on the part of either of us.
‘I can only say that in these 8 years I have had a person by my side who has done nothing but prioritize me, take care of me and respect me, and that is why I cannot allow any kind of false speculation and the decision to announce it “so soon.”
‘I don’t want you to think that everything you’ve seen in the photos we’ve been posting on Instagram is a lie. We couldn’t have loved each other more, and we still do, but there comes a time when many misunderstandings accumulate, they are poorly managed, and things slowly deteriorate and explode.
‘We’ve always promised each other to respect everything we’ve been through, to never get to the point of hurting each other or being toxic, and to end things before that happens, and that’s what we’ve done.
‘I just want to thank Alvaro for everything he’s done for me, for how he’s taken care of me, for being the father and husband that he’s been, and wish him the best ALWAYS.’

Confirmation of their split comes less than a month after the couple were spotted kissing on a beach during a family holiday in Sardinia.
Campello was also pictured alongside her husband after he captained Spain to victory in the Euro 2024 final on July 14.
However, Campello did not accompany Morata when he recently travelled to northern Italy to join up with his new AC Milan teammates.
Morata, who moved to Milan after two seasons at Atletico Madrid, was seen without his wedding ring as he signed shirts for Milan fans.
Campello, an Italian influencer, has since removed her husband’s name from all of her social media biographies.
She changed her online name from ‘Alice Campello Morata’ to ‘Alice Campello’.
Morata and Campello married in 2017. They share three sons, including twins, and a daughter.
