The 64-year-old presenter and journalist is still recovering from surgery and a shoulder injury that forced him to take four months off work at the end of last year.

Eamonn cut a casual figure in a grey T-shirt and black trousers as he struggled to get into a London cafe on Friday.

A source said Mirror:He’s doing the best he can under the circumstances, but there’s not much to smile about.

“He’s not looking to give any interviews and is just keeping his head down and working on GB News and doing physiotherapy sessions to try and improve his mobility.”

The 64-year-old presenter and journalist is still recovering from surgery and a shoulder injury that forced him to take four months off work at the end of last year.

This comes after Eamonn proudly shared a snap of himself standing unaided amid his recent health issues on Sunday.

The presenter, who revealed last week that he needed carers to help him with “simple things”, uses a wheelchair due to chronic back pain and also undergoes painful physiotherapy sessions.

In January, he said the “harsh reality” may be that he may never be able to walk unaided again.

But Eamonn has now shared a photo of himself dressed smartly and standing, of his own free will, leaning against a door frame as he continues his rehabilitation.

She captioned the post: “I’m having a hard time getting up, but my goal now is to walk. I’m going to a birthday party today. How about you?”

Eamonn spoke about the need for carers to help him while presenting GB News alongside Ellie Costello, who replaced regular presenter Isabel Webster last week.

The presenting duo were joined by two guests, Polly and Michelle, to discuss Thursday’s general election.

Michelle, who is a care support worker, said she would like to take Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak and Nigel Farage with her one day to work so they can see what she does as part of her job.

“I’m not going to finish work at 6pm on a Friday. I work 60 hours a week for £12.50 an hour,” he said.

Eamonn replied: ‘I just want to say: what do you do? I’ve been basically disabled for about a year and a half and I have to have a career to do the smallest, simplest things and it’s humiliating and humiliating, but thank God there are carers available.’

In 2016, Eamonn underwent a three-and-a-quarter-hour double hip replacement operation after living with acute pain for many years.

Speaking about his operation at the time, Eamonn said: “Was I nervous? No! It was like being on TV. In the build-up I was stressed: can I do it? Can I handle it?”

Two years later, Eamonn detailed his battle with shingles and how he contracted the virus on his son Declan’s wedding day.

During an appearance on Loose Women in September 2021, he spoke about his health battle that left him unable to work on This Morning three years ago.

She also shared images of her face swollen and covered in marks and scabs during her battle.

Shingles is a skin rash caused by reactivation of the varicella zoster virus, the virus that causes chickenpox. In the UK, 90 per cent of adults have had chickenpox, so this virus remains dormant in their nervous system.

Her years of chronic back pain began in the spring of 2021, and came completely out of the blue.

The pain became so severe that Eamonn had to rely on a cane to walk, but he soon discovered the root cause.

He eventually discovered that he had three herniated discs that were affecting the movement of his right leg.

In September 2022, Eamonn was forced to step away from his GB news show due to undergoing vital back surgery to relieve his chronic back pain.

Her battle with chronic back pain began after a pelvic dislocation resulted in three herniated discs.

Following his surgery, he revealed that despite physical therapy, he still feels like his lack of mobility prevents him from doing simple things and he is forced to rely on others, which he described as “soul-destroying.”

The spinal surgery also left him with a weakened left leg and, just over two weeks after his recovery from the operation, Eamonn fell backwards down 18 stairs at the Weybridge house, hitting the stone floor at the bottom.

The horrific accident could have easily killed him, but instead he emerged with a broken shoulder and even weaker legs.

The former This Morning presenter admitted at the time that fracturing his shoulder in a fall was a “massive setback”.

A year after his spinal surgery, Eamonn underwent a spine and neck lift procedure in September 2023 after admitting he was “unable to walk”.

Eamonn admitted he had “not recovered” from his back surgery, confessing: “I can’t run, I can’t walk, I can’t do anything except watch TV and eat.”

“Last year I had back problems and I haven’t recovered. It’s not good, it’s not a good recipe,” he explained.

Eamonn is now focused on his recovery after years of various health problems and operations.

The presenter and Ruth, both 64, announced their plans to divorce last month after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together.

His ex-wife’s boss, Ruth Langsford, revealed she feared Eamonn would “never be 100 per cent right”.

He receives daily physiotherapy sessions and uses a cane or wheelchair to get around, with the support of his wife Ruth.

The Loose Women presenter said she is “living in hope” that her mobility will improve.

Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth said: “I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We’re hopeful.”

“He does the physical therapy, but you may have to accept that this will never be 100% right. In any caregiving situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it’s not always easy. It’s a test, but we manage as a family.”

Ruth added: “I look at Eamonn, who has had health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is.”
