The horrifying moment a crane collapses while a young worker is inside has been captured on CCTV as the man is rushed to hospital.

The 22-year-old man sank seven meters after the lifting platform collapsed while he was pruning trees in Yokine, in Perth’s northern suburbs, on Friday.

In the video of the fall, the man is seen landing on the opposite side of the road, where the machinery narrowly avoided colliding with a parked car.

The man’s colleague is seen running across the road to help before the 22-year-old was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with a broken arm.

A City of Stirling spokesperson confirmed the man had been hired to work for the council when the incident occurred shortly before 2pm.

“The city is aware of an incident involving a contractor today,” he said.

“The City understands that the person involved is receiving medical care.”

WorkSafe has been notified and has launched an investigation with inspectors seen attending the site later on Friday.
